There is provided a vial cap with which, when there is a possibility that a cover which covers a stopper for a vial has come off and the stopper for the vial has been contaminated at a stage prior to use, the fact can easily be recognized. The vial cap is a resin vial cap (1) to be attached to a mouth portion (72) of a vial (70) to fix a stopper (74) fitted into the mouth portion (72) so that the stopper may not come off the mouth portion (72). The vial cap (1) is provided with a cap main body (8) that has an upper opening (6) formed therein and a cover (40) that covers the upper opening (6) of the cap main body (8). The cap main body (8) has a plurality of pin-receiving holes (10) formed therein, and the cover (40) has a plurality of fixing pins (46). Each pin-receiving hole (10) and a fixing pin (46) that is paired with the pin-receiving hole (10) are formed in complementary shapes. The plurality of fixing pins (46) of the cover (40) are accommodated in the plurality of pin-receiving holes (10) of the cap main body (8), and the cap main body (8) and the cover (40) are joined with the pin-receiving holes (10) and the fixing pins (46) engaged.

CLOSURE CAPS

A tamper indicating preassembly or kit of parts is provided for protection of a container closure plug receivable in a container opening having a groove or recess formed thereabout. A support ring comprises a radially inwardly directed lip engageable in the groove or recess. A masking membrane may be sealed at its periphery to the support ring. The support ring may further comprise a frangibly attached, inwardly extending, flange or projection. When the plug is received in the container opening and the support ring lip is received in the container opening groove or recess, the masking membrane covers up an upper end of the plug and/or the inwardly extending flange or projection overlaps the upper end of the plug. A protective outer cover may also be provided.

In an implementation, the cap assembly includes a cap portion sized to be received over at least a portion of a bottle mouth and the stopper. A spike protrudes downwardly from the cap portion, and is configured to at least partially pierce a bottle stopper. A tear ring is frangibly attached to the cap portion by one or more regions of mechanical weakening. A pull tab extends outwardly from the tear ring to facilitate frangible separation of the tear ring from the cap portion.

The apparatus further includes a removable secondary cap configured to engage the primary cap to secure the vessel, the secondary cap including at least one lug, the lug having a shear zone that contacts the projection when the primary and secondary caps are engaged and secured to a vessel. When the secondary cap is removed from the primary cap, the shear zone is broken by the projection such that the secondary cap cannot by reinstalled on the primary cap.

The sealing assembly includes a substantially rigid cap portion for seating the sealing assembly in a roof portion of the closure and an insert portion attachable to the cap portion.
