Freshness preserving food container

A container for preserving the freshness of a stored food product is disclosed. The container has a receptacle with a piston and seal arrangement that creates a variable volume for food storage. A vent and seal arrangement allows for the removal of air as the piston is moved within the receptacle to reduce the volume within. A removable engaging member pushes the piston upward in order to reduce the inner volume of the container as the food stored in the container is consumed. This reduction in space and associated removal of air inhibit the oxidation and spoilage of many popular foods such as guacamole. With the engaging member removed, the container is also useful for serving the stored food product.

The cyclonic separator has a shell rising from an inner circumference of the lid ring and has a horizontal inlet tube and central vertical outlet tube. A baffle for the separator includes a baffle plate fitted within the inner circumference and a turret of vertical members arranged with a top ring that fits onto the outlet tube. This compact arrangement has improved performance in airflow and dust separation. A spring clamp assists in fitting onto buckets over a range of diameters, and a pair of circumferential gaskets at right angles to one another form an air-tight seal.

The roller can include unitary axle portions that snap into the proximal end of the latch arm and is supported at both axial ends of the roller. The proximal end of the latch arm can include parallel extensions separated by a gap, and have guide in surfaces to deflect the extensions as the axle portions of the roller are forced into position thereby seating the roller at both axial ends.
