A container has an opening and an automatic closure. A closure flap is secured to a pivot arm, the other end of which has a weighted portion. The closure flap and pivot arm are located within the container. When the container is in a normal upright position, the weighted portion biases the closure flap into a closed position. When the container is rotated in a first direction, the weighted portion causes the pivot arm and closure flap to rotate in a second, opposite direction so that the opening is exposed.

A lid for a beverage container comprising a lower lid having a perimeter skirt adapted to secure the lower lid to an opening of the beverage container, a lip portion radially inward from the skirt and extending upward 125 from the skirt and defining an inside surface, an annular portion radially inward from the lip portion and defining a plurality of openings through which liquid from the container may flow; an upper planar lid resting on the lower lid by gravity and having a perimeter edge that is sized to closely conform with the inside surface, the upper lid covering the annular portion as it rests on the lower lid, and a stop mechanism cooperating with the lower lid and the upper lid to limit the range of motion of the upper lid with respect to the lower lid, wherein the stop mechanism enables the upper lid to move away for a distance from the lower lid in response to pressure exerted upon the upper lid by liquid flowing out of the container through the openings as the 20 container is tilted, and wherein the stop mechanism prevents the upper lid from being expelled from the lower lid, and wherein the upper lid returns to resting on the lower lid by gravity as the container is returned to vertical.

CLOSURE WITH HINGED LID

A closure for a container of the kind use to deliver milk and juice. The closure is a two-piece construction comprise of a lid and a base. The closure preferably has overall dimensions that approximate a standard unitary cap use with the same containers, so that the closure can easily be used with standard feeding equipment in a bottling facility. The closure has a hinge that is formed of a post connected by a tab to the lid, and hinge supports extending upwardly from the closure's base. The hinge supports include a hook and a bridge. The hook allows the tab to slide under the hook during assembly of the lid to the base. Once the tab is positioned between hook and the bridge, the hook blocks disassembly of the lid from the base. The post of the hinge assembly fits within tunnel sections formed by the hook and the bridge, and gripping forces applied by the hook and/or bridge hold the lid in an open position when contents are poured from the container. In an alternative embodiment, the post of the hinge has a rounded protrusion extending axially along the length of the post. A ledge on the upper surface of the base is engaged by the rounded protrusion to hold the lid in a partially open position.

Seal head and container sealed with using the seal head

Provided is a portion container whose detaching seal portion can be easily detached by a stress applied from a radial inner side based on an inside pressure of a container body, but can be hardly detached by a stress applied from the outside during distribution. Provided also are a seal head for sealing such container and a container sealed with using such seal head. The seal head includes pressing end portions for pressing a lid member against a flange of an opening. At least a portion of the pressing end portions is formed as an uneven projecting portion having different curvature radii in its cross sectional contour between a radial inner portion and a radial outer portion of the opening.
