Vacuum container for storage of air sensitive materials

A storage container apparatus is provided for storing air sensitive materials under a vacuum. The apparatus includes having a cylindrical container body opened at its upper end and a cap apparatus with an integral air pump to evacuate air from the container body to create a vacuum. The cap apparatus comprises an inner cap with a one-way air valve and an outer cap. The outer cap is slidably nested over the inner cap and confines a central air chamber which fills with air from the container body through the one-way air valve when pulled upwardly in a reciprocating motion. In the down stroke the air is evacuated from the air chamber through vents. The outer cap may include locking mechanism and vacuum level indicator. The outer cap may include an activated carbon cloth insert that suppresses odors from the material stored in the container.

The controller is configured to receive from the first sensor an indication of a beverage level in the container and activate the signal producing unit based at least on the indication of the beverage level in the container.

In some embodiments, the device has a housing, a pressure indicator, a pressure sensor, and a one-way valve. The housing is configured to seal an opening of a wine bottle. The housing has a closure side configured to be in communication with an interior of the wine bottle. The housing has an input channel extending through the housing. The pressure sensor is within the housing and is in communication with the closure side. The one-way valve is in the input channel. The pressure sensor is configured to move the pressure indicator to an indicating position when a predetermined amount of pressure is reached at the sensor.

Packaging includes attaching a system to the container to monitor and store in the memory data on parameters of the consumable product. Attaching the system includes affixing a flexible substrate including a laser-detector pair directly to an outer surface of the container. The laser-detector pair is configured to pass laser light through the container to reflect from a reflector affixed to the outer surface of the container opposite the laser-detector pair to non-invasively sense parameters of the consumable product. The method further includes providing an interrogator to the consumer to communicate with the system to access the data.

The upper surface of the gasket comprises a first row of alternating protrusions and indentations and a second row of alternating protrusions and indentations that define a channel therebetween. The sheet of filter material extends from an inner edge of the gasket. The gasket completely surrounds the sheet of filter material, wherein the indentations and channel facilitate delivery of a sterilization agent through the filter material. A sterilization assembly including a lid having a plurality of protrusions in its upper surface in conjunction with a gasket having a smooth upper surface is also provided.
