Food packaging having an integrated spout
09718593 · 2017-08-01 · ·

A food package container may have an integrated spout that can be used to dispense the contents of the container into a consumer's mouth. In some examples, the food package container includes an elongated, flexible-wall container body providing a tubular chamber holding a foodstuff. The container has a spout formed by a narrowing of the container body in a region extending upwardly away from the tubular chamber. For example, spout may be bound on one side by the container body and further bound on an opposite side and on a top edge by a seal joining opposed walls of the container body together. To open the spout, a weakened line may extend laterally across the container body adjacent the top edge of the spout and longitudinally across the container body adjacent the side of the spout bound by the seal.

PACKAGE OPENING SUPPORT
20170203881 · 2017-07-20 ·

A package, such as a bag or stand-up pouch, is described that includes a built-in opening support that can be actuated by the user to maintain the package in an open or wide-open configuration, thereby preventing or reducing the need to manually keep the front and back panels of the package separated as product is accessed. The opening support may be disposed near the opening end of at least one of the front or back panels and may be designed to be moved from an inactive position to an active position. In the inactive position, the opening support is disposed along one of the front panel or the back panel, whereas in the active position, the opening support extends between the front panel and the back panel, across a corresponding longitudinal seam of the package, to maintain the opening of the package in a wide-open position.

A method for sealing a thermoplastic bag includes forming a first fold in a top end of the bag; forming a second fold in the top end that includes the first fold; folding the first fold to form a first portion of the first fold and a second portion of the first fold, the second portion of the first fold is folded onto the first portion of the first fold; and heat sealing the first fold and the second fold to each other and to a portion of the bag that faces the first fold, the heat sealing including applying hot air to the bag. Preferably the second fold has a height that is less than a height of the first fold such that the forming of the second fold folds the first fold to form the first and second portions of the first fold.

Forming and applying a mated fastener assembly

A mechanical touch fastener assembly (10,101) including two longitudinally continuous tapes (16), (18) carrying engaged fastener patches (12,12a), (14,14a,14b,14c). The first tape (16) carrying a series of first fastener patches (12,12a) arranged in a row along a length of the tape (16) and carrying a field of touch fastening features. Each first patch longitudinally spaced from adjacent first patches (12,12a). The second tape (18) carrying a series of second fastener patches (14,14a,14b,14c) carrying a second field of touch fastening features. The first (16) and second (18) tapes including a release liner (22), (24). The first (16) and second (18) tapes wound together to form a roll (60), with each of the first fastener patches (12,12a) releasably engaged to a respective one of the second fastener patches (14,14a,14b,14c) by inter-engagement of the first and second touch fastening features. As wound to form the roll (60), one patch of an engaged pair (25) has a leading edge (52,52b,52c) disposed behind a leading (50) edge of another patch of the engaged pair (25).
