Systems and Methods for Coordinating Radar Data and Image Data to Track a Flight of a Projectile
20180318687 · 2018-11-08 ·

A system for coordinating radar data and image data to track a flight of a projectile includes a radar, an imager, and a controller. The imager provides an image of an area into which a projectile is to be launched. The controller receives the image and an identification of a target within the image and identifies a target line connecting the target and a launch position of the projectile. The controller also receives data from the radar relative to at least a portion of a trajectory of the projectile, generates image based trajectory data by correlating the radar data and the image, and alters the image to include the image based trajectory data within the image and the target line within the image.

System, apparatus and method for ball throwing machine and intelligent goal

A goal apparatus comprising a cross bar, a first side post and a second side post is described. The first side post and the second side post are connected to the cross bar such that the first side post, the second side post and the cross bar form a plane (a goal plane). Further, one or more sensor pairs are coupled to the first side post and the second side post, wherein a first sensor pair of the one or more sensor pairs includes a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is coupled to the first side post and the second sensor is coupled to the second side post and is also aligned horizontal to the first sensor. In addition, the first sensor pair is located in a first zone, wherein the first zone is a first portion of the goal plane.

A sport ball comprising having a plurality of panels, each of the panels having an uncompressed center thickness and a compressed outer edge surrounding the uncompressed center thickness, the panels being stitched together along the respective compressed outer edges to form a shape, an inner bladder within said shape. The sport ball of claim 1, wherein said compressed outer edge is compressed by a factor of between one-quarter and three-quarters of said uncompressed center thickness. The compressed outer edge may be compressed approximately one-half of the uncompressed center thickness. The compressed outer edge may be compressed a width approximately equal to the uncompressed center thickness. Methods of forming the sport ball are also disclosed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRACKING SPORTS BALLS CONFIGURED WITH ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS
20180256945 · 2018-09-13 · ·

Systems and methods for tracking a sports ball assembly in real time during a sporting event are disclosed. A structure of the sports ball assembly is also disclosed. The sports ball assembly comprises at least one electronic circuit embedded or attached to a sports ball. The sports ball assembly is in network communication with a server processor via at least two receivers within a sports arena. The sports ball assembly generates and transmits UWB data packets comprising movement-related data for the sports ball assembly in real time at a predetermined rate. The at least two receivers receive the UWB data packets and transmit to the server processor with time stamps. The server processor is operable to determine a movement of the sports ball assembly based on the UWB data packets and the time stamps received from the at least two receivers.

Information-presentation structure with impact-sensitive color changing incorporated into sports-playing structure such as basketball or volleyball court

A variable-color region (106) of a sports-playing structure of an information-presentation structure extends to an exposed surface (102) at a surface zone (112), normally appears along it as a principal color, and includes impact-sensitive and color-change components (182 and 184). A boundary line (1306/1308 or 1386/1388) extends along an in-bounds area (1302 or 1382) of the surface. A segment (192) of the impact-sensitive component responds to an object (104) impacting the zone at an object-contact area (116) by providing an impact effect if the impact meets threshold impact criteria. A segment (194) of the color-change component responds to the impact effect by causing an impact-dependent portion (138) of the region to temporarily appear along a print area (118) of the zone as changed color materially different from the principal color. The zone typically adjoins the boundary line or an internal line (1334 or 1396).
