An insulated box assembly includes an insulated box, the insulated box including a box, the box including a bottom panel and a side panel, the side panel attached to the bottom panel, the box defining a box cavity; and an insulated panel attached to the side panel, the insulated panel including an insulation batt and a sheet, the insulation batt enclosed between the side panel and the sheet; and an insulated cavity panel, the insulated cavity panel disposed within the box cavity, the insulated cavity panel including a cavity sheet and a cavity insulation batt, the cavity sheet encapsulating the cavity insulation batt.

A liner includes a liner subassembly, the liner subassembly comprising a body portion, the body portion comprising a front, a back, a first side, a second side, and a bottom, the body portion defining a cavity; and a flap portion hingedly connected to a top end of the back, the flap portion sized to cover the cavity; and a support connected to the bottom, the support comprising a central body and two end portions, each end portion hingedly connected to the central body, wherein the body portion and the flap portion comprise insulated walls.

A liner comprising a body portion and a flap portion. The body portion comprises a front, a back, a first side, a second side, and a bottom. The body portion defines a cavity. The flap portion is hingedly connected to a top end of the back of the body portion. The flap portion is sized to cover the cavity. The body portion and the flap portion comprise a single piece of insulative material.

A packaging assembly comprising a box and a liner positioned in the box. The liner comprises a panel and a single piece of insulative material coupled to the panel. The liner comprises a fiber-based material. The liner defines a plurality of sub-portions. The liner defines a plurality of bend lines. Each bend line connects one sub-portion of the liner with another sub-portion of the liner. The single piece of insulative material and the panel together extend across at least two bend lines.

A method for insulating a box including positioning at least one insulation batt in facing contact with at least one side panel of an inner cardboard layer, the at least one side panel at least partially defining an inner cavity; and adhesively coupling the at least one insulation batt to the at least one side panel, the at least one insulation batt at least partially insulating the inner cavity.

An insulation core made of at least one of pressed straw or hay, wherein the insulation core is geometrically defined and stable in shape, the shape retention of the insulation core given by the stochastic distribution and form of stalks of the at least one of pressed straw or hay, and fibers of stalks of the at least one of pressed straw or hay remain undissolved within the natural structure of the stalks; and a covering that covers the insulation core on all sides and is predominantly connected by form-locking to the insulation core, and that the density of the insulation packaging is between 40 kg\m.sup.3 and 250 kg\m.sup.3.

A box blank assembly includes a box blank, the box blank includes a bottom panel; a first side panel attached to the bottom panel by a first length fold line; a second side panel attached to the bottom panel by a second length fold line; and a third side panel attached to the bottom panel by a first width fold line; and an insulation batt attached to at least one of the first side panel, the second side panel, and the third side panel.

A thermal insulation article for placement in a shipping container to hold an item includes a thermally insulating pad shaped to be positioned in a cavity of a rectangular prism shipping container to be adjacent to and cover one or more of a floor, four side walls and cover of the container while leaving an interior space to receive the item. The thermally insulating pad includes a compostable panel that holds together as a single unit and is formed primarily of starch, and compostable or recyclable film forming a pocket and surrounding the panel to prevent water from reaching the panel within the pocket. The film is secured to the panel along a portion but not all of the opposite surfaces of the compostable panel.

An insulated box includes a box, the box comprising a bottom panel and a side panel, the side panel attached to the bottom panel; and an insulated panel attached to the side panel, the insulated panel comprising an insulation batt and a sheet, the insulation batt enclosed between the side panel and the sheet.
