A tray is provided for retaining a plurality of food items that includes a bottom wall portion and a sidewall portion together defining a plurality of compartments separated from each other by dividers and each configured to retain a stack of the food items. Each of the dividers is interconnected to the sidewall portion by a pair of scalloped ledges. The sidewall portion of the tray includes two side panels each including stiffening ribs extending only along a portion thereof, but not extending along an entire length thereof. The tray is configured such that, in response to a compressing force applied to the tray in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first and second side panels, the sidewall portion of the tray deflects in a direction away from the food items.

A system for addition to a box for transporting hot food includes a top sheet of paper having a length and a width equal to an interior of the box, such that the top sheet fits within the box without being folded, a bottom sheet of paper having a length and a width longer than the interior of the box, such that when the bottom sheet is placed within the interior of the box, edges of the bottom sheet are configured to extend upwards along sides of the interior of the box, a second fold defining a strip of paper above the top sheet, a food-safe laminate coating on an interior surface of the top and bottom sheets, wherein said coating has heat reflecting characteristics and oil-resistant characteristics, and orifices in the top sheet for allowing moisture to escape therethrough.

The present disclosure provides a pizza storage bag having a triangular profile with two longer sides and a shorter side, one of the longer sides having a resealable opening formed therein to allow for insertion of a pizza slice. As the slice is inserted sideways across a broader length of the bag there is less risk of the pizza cheese and toppings being pushed across the pizza as it is inserted into the bag. Furthermore, if grip tabs are provided about the opening of the bag, the total length of the bag on any side is less than it would be if the opening was made in the shorter side of the triangle.

The present disclosure provides a pizza storage bag having a triangular profile with two longer sides and a shorter side, one of the longer sides having a resealable opening formed therein to allow for insertion of a pizza slice. As the slice is inserted sideways across a broader length of the bag there is less risk of the pizza cheese and toppings being pushed across the pizza as it is inserted into the bag. Furthermore, if grip tabs are provided about the opening of the bag, the total length of the bag on any side is less than it would be if the opening was made in the shorter side of the triangle.

A paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal to establish fluid communication between an interior of the container and the environment outside the container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

A paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal to establish fluid communication between an interior of the container and the environment outside the container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

A locking arrangement for a container that has a lid pivotally attached with a base includes a flap that is pivotally attached at a first end thereof to the lid at a peripheral edge of the lid. The flap has a tab projecting laterally away from a second end of the flap. A frangible portion of the lid is defined by a perforation that terminates to encompass the first end of the flap. A slot is formed through an upwardly-projecting peripheral wall of a base of the container. As such, with the lid of the container moving towards a closed position, and with the tab in a folded position, the flap and tab are inserted through the slot of the peripheral wall of the base, thereafter as the tab clears the slot the resilient material urges the tab into an expanded position to lock the container.

A locking arrangement for a container that has a lid pivotally attached with a base includes a flap that is pivotally attached at a first end thereof to the lid at a peripheral edge of the lid. A food product packaging and method of producing the same is provided for containing rigid food products. The packaging includes a tray having at least one receptacle, rigid food products housed in the receptacle and a removable flexible film secured to the tray and enclosing the receptacle. The receptacle is shaped to enable the rigid food products to slide into and be positioned in the receptacle in an orientation that is generally parallel to the bottom wall thereby reducing the chances of the food products breaking in the receptacle and reducing the chances of the food products puncturing the flexible film.
