ADSORBENT MATERIALS FOR EXTENDING PRODUCE SHELF LIFE

Disclosed in certain embodiments are systems and methods for prolonging the shelf life of produce. The following presents a simplified summary of various aspects of the present disclosure in order to provide a basic understanding of such aspects. This summary is not an extensive overview of the disclosure. It is intended to neither identify key or critical elements of the disclosure, nor delineate any scope of the particular embodiments of the disclosure or any scope of the claims. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of the disclosure in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

PACKAGE FOR PRESERVING RESPIRING PRODUCE AND METHOD

A package for preserving respiring produce contained in the package, in particular vegetables, fruit, herbs, spices and/or flowers, and an associated method are provided. The package defines a package volume for containing a portion of the produce and a package atmosphere, and comprises a packaging material, in particular a polymer film (1A), provided with at least one perforation (3) enabling gas exchange with the atmosphere surrounding the package (1) to form the package into a Controlled Atmosphere Package (CAP). The packaging material has a Water Vapour Transmission Rate (WVTR), a carbon dioxide transmission rate (CO.sub.2TR) and an oxygen transmission rate (O.sub.2TR), wherein the WVTR of the packaging material is in a range of 50-1200 ml/(m.sup.2.Math.24 hrs), the CO.sub.2TR of the packaging material is larger than 1000 ml/(m.sup.2.Math.24 hrs), and a ratio β=CO.sub.2TR/O.sub.2TR of the packaging material is larger than 4.

FLOATING GRID ARRANGEMENT TO SUPPORT AND POSITION DECORATIVE ELEMENTS

Plastic grid or framework arrangements are used to support and position of bowls that hold flower arrangements, candles, letters, and other decorative elements. These grids are deployable in water fountains, indoor and outdoor pools, and other small bodies of water during festive occasions or for longer term decorative display. The grid themselves do not float, and are positioned below the surface of the water, and thus are not readily visible. Buoyancy is provided at the hubs that form nodes in the grids. The hubs also support floating bowls containing various decorative elements. The resulting effect is that the various decorative elements appear to be floating on the surface while the sub-surface grid structure maintains their relative positioning, keeping the bowls from clumping together at the edges or in the corners of the pool or fountain.

PACKAGING SYSTEM FOR SHIPPING FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
20170217668 · 2017-08-03 ·

A packaging system for shipping floral arrangements includes an elongated presentation box sized to hold a floral arrangement, such as a dozen roses. The presentation box includes two long side panels, a floor panel extending between the side panels, head end and a stem end panels each extending between the side and floor panels, a top opening defined by the side and end panels, and an elongated inner lid hingedly connected on one of its long sides to one of the side panels. The inner lid extends longitudinally from a first end adjacent to the stem end panel to a second end spaced away from the head end panel such that it folds over only a portion of the top opening and creates a presentation opening bounded by the head end panel, side panels and the second end of the inner lid for displaying the flowers of the floral arrangement.

CYCLODEXTRIN COMPOSITIONS, ARTICLES, AND METHODS
