A portion capsule for producing a beverage. The portion capsule includes a capsule body that has a collar edge and a capsule bottom; a filter element located inside of the capsule body, the filter element is elastic, the filter element has a flange that is attached to the collar edge of the capsule body, the filter element has a bottom; and a cover attached to the capsule body. The bottom of the filter element is spaced apart from the capsule bottom such that a free space remains between the filter element and the capsule bottom. The filter element is spaced apart from the capsule bottom in such a manner that only before a liquid is applied to a beverage substrate, does the filter element not touch the capsule bottom.

The invention relates to a package (11) containing one portion of beverage precursor (2) for preparing a beverage in a beverage preparation apparatus (100). The package comprises a pair of packaging sheets (12, 13) sealed to one another for enclosing and sealing the portion of beverage precursor (2) individually in a substantially oxygen and external humidity impervious manner by the sheets being sealed together about the portion (2). In the package, the sheets (12, 13) are forming a cavity (14, 15) covering the beverage precursor portion (2) on each side, wherein the cavity (14, 15) is provided with a ridge (18, 19) on at least one of the sheets (12, 13), the ridge (18, 19) being configured to cooperate with a protrusion part (31, 41) of the beverage preparation apparatus (100). The invention also relates to a package strip (10) comprising a plurality of packages (11) and to a system comprising a beverage preparation invention apparatus (100) and at least one package strip (10), wherein the apparatus (100) comprises a dispensing device (110) which comprises a protrusion part (31,41) which cooperates with the ridge (18, 19) of one package (11).

The invention relates to a container (1) for use in a beverage preparation machine. The container (1) has a non-symmetrical shape such that it is inserted functionally inside the beverage preparation machine with a specific orientation. The container (1) comprises a container body (2) having a back side (40) and a front side (3), the back side (40) and the front side (3) delimiting a compartment adapted to be traversed by water injected therein by the beverage preparation machine through the back side (40), and a plant material for preparing a tea beverage, the plant material being inside said compartment. The front side (3) comprises at least one discharge opening (31) arranged in the upper half, preferably arranged in the upper third part, of said front side (3) when said container (1) is functionally inserted in the beverage preparation machine in order to keep water in the compartment at a defined level (L) that is above the median height (M) of said container (1), before the tea beverage is dispensed outside said container (1), thus allowing soaking of the plant material in said water.

The invention relates, amongst others, to a container (1) for use in a beverage preparation machine. The container (1) comprises: a sealed body (2) for containing an ingredient for preparing a beverage, the sealed body (2) comprising a back part and a front part (3), which are sealed along one or more first side edges (4). A process for producing a thermoformable and bondable fabric in which the fabric is biodegradable and/or compostable. The process comprises extruding a polymeric blend to form a plurality of filaments, the filaments collectively comprising the fabric.

The present disclosure provides: a biodegradable nonwoven fabric for thermoforming, the biodegradable nonwoven fabric being composed of a fiber of a polylactic acid-based polymer, and having a basis weight of 20-300 g/m.sup.2, preferably, a biodegradable nonwoven fabric characterized by being composed of a long fiber of a polylactic acid polymer, having an MD-direction elongation of 50% or more at 120° C., and having an MD-direction dimensional change rate of ±4% or less at 80-140° C. as determined by thermomechanical analysis; a method for producing a molded body by using said biodegradable nonwoven fabric; and a method for molding a biodegradable beverage extraction container, the method being characterized in that the molded body has an MD-direction elongation change rate of 4% or less, as determined by thermomechanical analysis (TMA) under a load of 0.05 N/2 mm at 30-100° C.

A method for producing a beverage using a portion pack including a container made of filter material for containing an extraction material, and a supporting body which encloses the container. The method comprises the steps of: placing the closed portion pack into a filter vessel; opening the container of the portion pack on an upper side and increasing the internal volume of the container by at least 50% compared to the internal volume in the closed container; and applying water to the extraction material for beverage preparation. The portion pack comprises at least one folding edge on the supporting body about which a flap can be pivoted in order to increase the internal volume of the portion pack when opening.

A brew chamber includes a first section to receive and retain the ground coffee beans, a filter divider retaining the ground coffee beans in the first section, and an annular section prevented from receiving the ground coffee beans by the filter divider. A water pump moves a measured amount of heated water from the heater to the brew chamber, based on the brew information. A drawdown release valve retains the water in the brew chamber for a set duration, based on the brew information, and releases brewed coffee from the brewing chamber responsive to the duration elapsing.
