FLEX-CRACK RESISTANT AND THERMALLY RESISTANT ASEPTIC BULK BAGS FOR FLEXIBLE PACKAGING
This invention relates to inner-plies for bulk-bags that surprisingly offer not only high thermal resistance, but also high flex-crack resistance. This invention also relates to such bulk-bags made for packaging of flowable materials, aseptic or otherwise, and the process for improving their flex-crack and thermal resistance. Preferably, the packaging is aseptic. More specifically, the inner-ply of the invention comprises a resin blend comprising the Exceed® XP resin; an LDPE resin or an ethylene—α-olefin copolymer (EAO copolymer); or a blend of said LDPE resin and said EAO copolymer, with flex-crack resistance improved in both machine direction and transverse direction, in conjunction with an improved thermal resistance. Thus, in addition to possessing good flex-crack resistance, the bulk-bags can withstand steam sterilization and/or aseptic packaging conditions.
Multilayer rotomolded grease trap
A grease trap or solids collector for separating waste from waste water has a tank having a multilayer outer wall made of an outer layer of un-foamed plastic, an intermediate layer of foamed plastic, and an inner layer of unfoamed plastic; an inlet invert in the tank for receiving incoming waste water; and an outlet invert for removing water from the tank. An extension collar made up of segments can be included.
Lightweight hermetic storage systems and methods for dry agricultural commodities
A lower cost, light weight, hermetic system and method for storage of dry commodities outdoors for up to 1000 tonnes of commodity includes a multilayer joined material with a thickness of 0.2-0.3 mm, a weight of approximately 200 g/m.sup.2, a permeability to oxygen of less than 3 cc/m.sup.2/day and a permeability to water of less than 4 g/m.sup.2/day, a tensile strength of approximately 38 MPa, and insect penetration-resistance of approximately 1200 g/m.sup.2 (Dart test value).
COMPOSITE STRUCTURES WITH EMBEDDED ELECTRICAL GRIDS
A composite structure of a cargo body and a method of making the same are disclosed. The composite structure includes at least one electrical grid embedded within fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) layers. The embedded electrical grid includes a plurality of conductive fibers and a plurality of insulating fibers integrated into a polymer matrix of the FRP layers. The embedded electrical grid may be used for power distribution, structural strengthening and stiffness, and/or puncture detection.
MULTILAYER PACKAGE STRUCTURE FOR OZONE SCAVENGING
A package arrangement comprising a structure formed by a plurality of layers including an outer layer formed of a polymer material, one or more interior layers formed of a semi-aromatic polyamide composite material, and an inner layer formed of a polymer material, and an amount of water contained within the structure, the water including an amount of ozone dissolved therein, wherein the interior layer of the structure is configured to absorb oxygen and induce the degradation of the ozone.
GLASS FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER LINER FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE MOLTEN SULFUR STORAGE TANK
A system and method for storing molten sulfur includes a reinforced concrete vessel, the reinforced concrete vessel being subterranean. The vessel has a floor that is a raft footing formed of reinforced concrete and has a floor interior surface. The vessel also has a ceiling that is a slab of reinforced concrete and has a ceiling interior surface. Sidewalls of the vessel extend between the floor and the ceiling and are formed of reinforced concrete, each sidewall having a sidewall interior surface. A liner is bonded to the floor interior surface, the ceiling interior surface, and each sidewall interior surface. The liner formed of an epoxy vinyl ester resin, and a glass fiber sheet embedded in the epoxy vinyl ester resin.
Insulated Tank for Storing Flammable and Combustible Liquids
An insulated tank for storing flammable and combustible liquid comprises an outer containment tank and an inner storage tank that defines a reservoir for storing flammable and combustible liquid. The inner storage tank is received within the outer containment tank such that a space is defined between the walls of the inner storage tank and the walls of the outer containment tank. The space contains one or more perlite boards to insulate the inner tank.
Hermetic seal for foil-lined FIBC (bulk bag)
The invention described herein generally pertains to a system and method related to a hermetic seal assembly used with a bag to provide a hermetic seal for the bag that can be opened and closed while maintaining the hermetic seal for the bag and materials stored therein. The hermetic seal assembly can include a lid and a collar, wherein the collar can be releasably affixed to the bag or integrated into an opening of the bag. The lid can include a sampling port and a corresponding removeable cap.
Underground storage tank
Storage tanks, for example, underground septic tanks, and their methods of fabrication are provided. The tanks include a substantially liquid impermeable plastic vessel having a top, a bottom, and sides; a concrete container encasing and retaining the plastic vessel, the concrete container contacting the bottom and at least partially contacting the sides of the plastic vessel; and at least one opening for receiving effluent, for example, waste effluent, into the plastic vessel. The methods of fabricating the tanks include positioning a plastic vessel into an enclosure; introducing concrete into the enclosure about the plastic vessel; allowing the fluid concrete to cure to provide a substantially solid concrete container about the plastic vessel; and removing the plastic vessel having a concrete container from the enclosure. Vessel shape retaining devices are also disclosed. Aspects of the invention are uniquely adapted to underground storage.
COMPOSITE SIDEWALL AND CARGO BODY HAVING SAME
A composite molded cargo body panel including a core, an interior skin secured to a first side of the core having a thickness, and exterior skin secured to a second side of the core, and a plurality of recesses. The plurality of recesses are dispersed along a first direction at intervals in the interior skin, with the core thickness at each of the plurality of recesses being reduced compared to a maximum core thickness, and each of the plurality of recesses defines a support surface. A pocket is formed in each of the plurality of recesses, with the core thickness at the pocket being less than the core thickness at each of the plurality of recesses. A plurality of logistics inserts are attached to the respective support surfaces of the plurality of recesses so that, at each of the plurality of recesses, the logistics insert extends across the pocket.
