Configurable modular skate blade assembly with improved damping
12397221 · 2025-08-26 · ·

Disclosed is a configurable modular damping ice-skating blade assembly including a frame with a blade runner extending along a longitudinal axis and being removably mounted in relation to the frame. The modular damping ice-skating blade assembly is configurable with the use of modified blade runners so as to allow one or more configurations for damping the frame in relation to the blade runner.

Ice hockey skate

An ice hockey skate includes a boot, a blade housing, a blade, and a plurality of projections. The boot includes a sole. The blade housing includes a mounting portion attached to the sole and a blade receptacle portion. The blade is removably connected to the blade receptacle portion. The projections project from the blade receptacle portion adjacent the blade and are designed to provide traction on an ice surface upon disconnection of the blade. Alternatively, the ice hockey includes a backup blade projecting from the blade housing next to and parallel to the blade, or a blade extension projecting from and integrally formed with the blade housing next to and parallel to the blade.

SKATE QUICK RELEASE

A skate riser system with static offset capability includes a riser extending between a boot adapter mount end and a skate runner mount end. The riser is non-adjustable and connects to a boot adapter mount configured to attach to the sole of a skate boot. A quick release shaft extends through a riser aperture and includes a keyed portion that secures a skate runner mount to the riser in a first orientation but allows removal in a second orientation. This static design enables quick swapping of skate blades with different configurations or replacements without adjusting the riser.

Heated skate blade with app-controlled temperature adjustment
12485338 · 2025-12-02 ·

A heated skate blade system is disclosed for optimizing ice skating performance through app-controlled temperature adjustment. The system includes a nichrome heating coil embedded in or adjacent to the blade, powered by a thin-film lithium-ion battery integrated into the blade holder. A microcontroller governs power delivery to the coil and wirelessly communicates with a mobile application via Bluetooth. The application enables users to input variables such as ice temperature, skater weight, skate size, blade hollow (ROH), and desired blade temperature. Based on these inputs, the system adjusts heating output to reduce the coefficient of kinetic friction between the blade and ice, enhancing glide and top speed. A USB-C port enables battery charging. The invention provides real-time, user-specific thermal tuning for hockey and speed skating applications, delivering improved speed and energy efficiency through compact, embedded electronics and an intuitive mobile interface.

A skate (e.g., an ice skate) for a skater (e.g., a hockey player). The skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of the skater and a skating device (e.g., a blade and a blade holder) disposed beneath the skate boot to engage a skating surface (e.g., ice). At least part of the skate boot and optionally at least part of one or more other components (e.g., the skating device) may be constructed from one or more materials (e.g., foams) molded by flowing in molding equipment during a molding process (e.g., injection molding or casting). This may allow the skate (or other footwear) to have useful performance characteristics (e.g., reduced weight, proper fit and comfort, etc.) while being more cost-effectively manufactured. Other articles of footwear are also provided.
