Rigid Packages Having Peelable Hermetic Seals

The disclosed principles provide for a welding technique welding the flanges of a rigid lid sealed onto a rigid tray, such that the two may be easily separated but still repeatedly reclosable such that the rigid package may be reused. For this unique and advantageous ultrasonic welding technique, the disclosed principles provide for the inclusion of a unique delamination layer between the similar rigid materials used for forming the flanges of both the lid and the tray. The disclosed principles provide for the delamination layer to be provide on one or both of the two rigid materials, but behind the seal interphase area so that the hermitic seal may still be created. This delamination layer operates such that it peels apart (i.e., delaminates) as the ultrasonically sealed rigid material of the lid flange and rigid material of the tray flange are pulled apart while opening the package initially.

A package is defined by a rigid base member and a peripheral flange surface. A flexible lidding member is heat sealed to the flange. The lidding member includes a first layer having a perimeter portion fixed to the flange and a second layer adhered to the first layer. An adhesive layer includes a permanent adhesive central portion and a perimeter pressure sensitive adhesive portion overlapping with the flange. A central score line is provided within the first layer, surrounding the central adhesive portion. A tab portion is formed as part of the perimeter portion of the lidding member and includes an edge score line formed in the first layer directly adjacent the fixed perimeter portion of the first layer.

CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR CLOSING AN OPENING OF CONTAINER

A container comprising: a container body that includes a wall portion separating inside and outside and is formed of a long-fiber-reinforced silicon-carbide composite material obtained by combining monofilaments of silicon carbide with a silicon carbide matrix, the wall portion having a thickness equal to a specific dimension; and a lid configured to close an opening of the container body, formed of a material containing at least silicon carbide, and equipped with such a wall portion separating inside and outside that thickness is within a range of 1 to 3 times the specific dimension.

Tamper evident tabbed sealing member having a foamed polymer layer

A pull-tab sealing member for a container providing a foamed polymer layer positioned within the sealing member for effective heat sealing to the container together with a lower laminate below a tab capable of tearing to provide a tamper evident structure below the tab.

A disposable container for commercializing individual frozen food portions is described. It is made of a plastic material and has a plurality of individual pockets defining each a volume configured for containing a portion of frozen food. Each pocket has a bottom wall and a lateral wall extending from the bottom wall and a top opening, the bottom wall having a thickness inferior to the thickness of the lateral wall. The portion of frozen food is extracted from its respective individual pocket by pushing in on the bottom wall of the pocket. A method for packaging, commercializing and using individual frozen food portions is also disclosed. The container and method are particularly useful for preparing a smoothie from frozen puree of vegetables and fruits. The container is particularly adapted for being shipped directly to the consumer. An insert and method for transforming a jar into a shaker are also disclosed.

Method of opening a box

A method of opening a box includes providing the box in a closed configuration, the box comprising a first top panel attached to a second top panel, the first top panel comprising a first sealing flap, a second sealing flap, and a middle flap disposed therebetween; removing a first tear strip of the first sealing flap to detach the first sealing flap from the second top panel; and removing a second tear strip of the second sealing flap to detach the second sealing flap from the second top panel and to configure the box in an open configuration.

Collapsible box and method therefor

A collapsible box includes a plurality of side panels including a first side panel and a second side panel, each of the plurality of side panels defining a side panel top edge; a box bottom; and a box top comprising a plurality of top panels including a first top panel extending from the side panel top edge of the first side panel and a second top panel extending from the side panel top edge of the second side panel, the second top panel comprising an overlapping portion; wherein, in a folded-down configuration of the collapsible box: the first side panel confronts the second side panel; and the overlapping portion of the second top panel is folded over a top panel top edge of the first top panel.
