The present disclosure is directed to apparatus including a container having an open top end, a closed bottom end, and a sidewall. The apparatus also includes a divider disposed within the container forming a first chamber and a second chamber isolated from the first, and at least one lid movably secured relative to the open top end of the container such that upon moving from a first closed position to a second open position at least one of the first and second chamber is accessible.

A recycling container with holes and slots that allow materials to be inserted one at a time into the container in an attempt to prevent non-recyclable material from being inserted into the recycling container. The recycling container further comprises a divider to separate types of materials, and may comprise a locking mechanism to restrict opening, wheels, a method of preventing materials from being withdrawn from the recycling container, or a drain.

A computer system including sensor and alternative power technologies for enhancing waste disposal and energy efficiency using is provided. The computer system may be configured to receive waste data and recycling data from at least one sensor located proximate to a waste bin, and determine a level of waste in the waste bin based upon the received waste data, and a level of contamination of the waste bin based upon the received recycling data. The computer system may be also configured to determine whether collection of waste in the waste bin or decontamination of the waste bin is required. The computer system may be further configured to generate an alert including information corresponding collection or decontamination of the waste bin, and transmit the alert to one or more client devices associated with at least one user.

A pet waste containment and disposal system contains pet waste prior to collection, transport and proper disposal thereof and reduces release of pet waste odors therefrom. A pet waste receptacle assembly has a waste receptacle with an open top, a closed bottom and a sidewall which cooperatively define an internal volume thereof. A cover assembly includes a cover member having a closed top and an outer sidewall disposed therearound disposed into an overlying relation to the open top of the waste receptacle, defining a sealing orientation to reduce release of pet waste odors from the waste receptacle. A partition assembly having at least one partition member separating an internal volume of the waste receptacle into a plurality of waste compartments, wherein each of the plurality of waste compartments is dimensioned and configured to receive an amount of pet waste therein.

The sorting waste receptacle sorts and temporarily stores differing types of waste items. The sorting waste receptacle includes a hollow housing having a top wall, a bottom wall and at least one sidewall. The top wall has an opening formed therein for depositing a waste item, and a lower interior portion of the hollow housing is divided into a plurality of separate compartments, each compartment corresponding to a different type of waste. When the waste item is inserted through the opening formed in the top wall, the waste item is temporarily held within a movable chute inside the hollow housing. While in the chute, the waste item is weighed by a scale and at least one sensor determines its composition. Based on the composition of the waste item, the chute is moved above the corresponding one of the separate compartments for dispensing of the waste item therein.

A waste storage device and corresponding waste sorting method. The waste storage device may include compartments for storing waste; an acquisition unit that acquires at least one characteristic of a piece of waste that is to be stored in the waste storage device; a processor unit that obtains data identifying the waste from the characteristic; a communications unit that sends the identifying data to a remote server and that receives data in response; and an advice supply unit that delivers sorting advice to a user. The sorting advice may come from the data that was received in response and it may identify at least one of the compartments of the waste storage device into which the piece of waste should be stored or placed by the user.

The invention relates to a system for collecting objects that includes a bin defining a space therewithin and a bin splitter assembly positioned within the bin. The bin splitter assembly may include a support stem oriented vertically and a plurality of bin splitters. Each of the plurality of bin splitters may be configured to be pivotably coupled with the support stem. Further, each of the plurality of bin splitters may define a wall extending radially away from the support stem and configured to split the space defined by the bin and create a pair of cabins with the bin across the wall. The support stem may be configured to rotate the plurality of bin splitters thereabout to reposition the plurality of bin splitters within the space defined by the bin to create different configurations of cabins within the bin.
