SORTING WASTE RECEPTACLE
The sorting waste receptacle sorts and temporarily stores differing types of waste items. The sorting waste receptacle includes a hollow housing having a top wall, a bottom wall and at least one sidewall. The top wall has an opening formed therein for depositing a waste item, and a lower interior portion of the hollow housing is divided into a plurality of separate compartments, each compartment corresponding to a different type of waste. When the waste item is inserted through the opening formed in the top wall, the waste item is temporarily held within a movable chute inside the hollow housing. While in the chute, the waste item is weighed by a scale and at least one sensor determines its composition. Based on the composition of the waste item, the chute is moved above the corresponding one of the separate compartments for dispensing of the waste item therein.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCING WASTE DISPOSAL AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY USING SENSOR AND ALTERNATIVE POWER TECHNOLOGIES
A computer system including sensor and alternative power technologies for enhancing waste disposal and energy efficiency using is provided. The computer system may be configured to receive waste data and recycling data from at least one sensor located proximate to a waste bin, and determine a level of waste in the waste bin based upon the received waste data, and a level of contamination of the waste bin based upon the received recycling data. The computer system may be also configured to determine whether collection of waste in the waste bin or decontamination of the waste bin is required. The computer system may be further configured to generate an alert including information corresponding collection or decontamination of the waste bin, and transmit the alert to one or more client devices associated with at least one user.
Waste storage device and corresponding sorting method
A waste storage device and corresponding waste sorting method. The waste storage device may include compartments for storing waste; an acquisition unit that acquires at least one characteristic of a piece of waste that is to be stored in the waste storage device; a processor unit that obtains data identifying the waste from the characteristic; a communications unit that sends the identifying data to a remote server and that receives data in response; and an advice supply unit that delivers sorting advice to a user. The sorting advice may come from the data that was received in response and it may identify at least one of the compartments of the waste storage device into which the piece of waste should be stored or placed by the user.
Waste collection and sorting apparatus
A waste management system includes a waste management device, a monitoring unit, and a communication unit. The waste management device includes a collection unit, a classification unit, a segregation unit, a plurality of sensors, a power unit, and a plurality of waste bins. The collection unit collects one or more waste articles. The classification unit utilizes a machine-learning model and identifies a waste category of the one or more waste articles. The segregation unit transports the one or more waste articles to a particular waste bin corresponding to the identified waste category. The power unit supplies power to the waste management device. The monitoring unit monitors the waste management device and controls a resultant action. The communication unit communicates one or more data between a control station and the waste management device using a plurality of IoT devices.

Chute system for waste and other materials
A chute system for a building including: an inlet, through which an item is received; a chute, coupled to the inlet, and an outlet, coupled to the chute. The outlet includes a sealing surface, configured to form a seal with an opening of a receptacle into which the item is to be received. The sealing surface is configured to enable a seal to be formed with different receptacles having different sized or shaped openings.
MODULAR WASTE RECEPTACLE
The disclosure describes waste receptacles for processing waste comprising a waste portal configured to accept waste deposited by an end user, a waste analysis unit positioned proximate to the waste portal, a waste conveyor connected to the waste portal, a paddle or robotic member positioned over the waste conveyor and configured to push the waste off the waste conveyor and into a grinder or into a waste commodity container.
REFUSE CONTAMINATION ANALYSIS
A computer-implemented method for analyzing refuse includes operations of receiving sensor data indicating an operational state of a vehicle body component of a refuse collection vehicle (RCV); analyzing the sensor data to detect a presence of a triggering condition based at least partly on a particular operational state of the vehicle body component, as indicated by the sensor data; in response to detecting the triggering condition, accessing image data indicating a physical state of refuse collected by the RCV; providing the image data as input to at least one contaminant detection model trained, using at least one machine learning (ML) algorithm, to output a classification of the image data, the classification indicating a degree of contamination of the refuse; and storing, in a machine-readable medium, the classification of the image data.
Recovery apparatus and control method of resource recovery apparatus
A resource collection apparatus is an apparatus for collecting waste reusable as a resource. The resource collection apparatus includes an opening associated with a predetermined sorting type, an opening/closing unit configured to open and close the opening, a first detector configured to perform an operation to detect a target waste belonging to a user, and a controller configured to specify a sorting type into which the target waste is to be sorted, by using a result of the detection by the first detector. The controller switches the opening/closing unit from a closed state to an open state when the specified sorting type matches the sorting type associated with the opening.
