An actively cooled waste receptacle comprises an insulated container including (i) an inner wall defining a chamber having an opening for receiving the waste, and (ii) an outer wall surrounding the inner wall and joined to the inner wall at the opening. The receptacle also includes a cover configured to prevent access to the chamber via the opening in a closed position, and to allow access to the chamber via the opening in an open position; and a heat pump including an interior heat exchanger exposed to the chamber, the heat pump configured to cool the chamber by absorbing heat from air within the chamber via the interior heat exchanger, and transferring the heat outside the insulated container.

In one aspect, there is provided a holder for holding a container of a substance to treat waste in an interior space of a garbage bin. The holder includes a housing having at least one mounting structure that is configured to mount to a garbage bin such that a rear wall portion of the housing is adjacent to a first wall portion of the garbage bin. A front wall portion of the housing is fixedly connected to a remainder of the housing and faces the interior space away from the rear wall portion. The housing includes a container receiving aperture shaped to hold the container, wherein the container receiving aperture has a mouth that faces upwards and is sized to receive the container. The holder includes a latching structure that prevents withdrawal of the container from the housing once the container is inserted into the container receiving aperture.

A vacuum-integrated trash bin. The vacuum-integrated trash bin includes a housing dimensioned to be removably insertable into a trash bin to form a seal. The housing includes a plurality of apertures in the sidewalls of the housing and a port at the bottom surface of the housing. The port is positioned above a vacuum pump, such that actuation of the vacuum pump sucks air through the apertures of the housing to conform a trash bag placed within the housing to the shape of the housing, thereby increasing an internal volume of the trash bag.

The present invention discloses a system and method for trash storage and disposal located above and below the surface. The trash storage and disposal system comprises an underground concrete receptacle liner or box, a polyethylene trash storage bucket that sits sub-base in the concrete liner or box with a hook capacity to permit the trash storage bucket to be lifted out of the concrete liner for disposal, a metal ring for a winch connection and the crane to attach from the garbage truck to remove trash from the storage bucket; a spray system provided inside the polyethylene trash storage bucket sprays a peppermint and/or other rodent deterrent and odor repellent and a cover or lid seals the polyethylene trash storage bucket. The cover or lid has a chute style, chimney flue above the ground and the chute style, chimney flue has a lid for dumping refuse by people.

The present invention discloses a system and method for trash storage and disposal located above and below the surface. A frusto-conical insert composed of hinged, trapezoidal panels and having an upper opening, and a lower opening smaller than the upper opening, is insertible into a collection bucket for facilitating the removal of articles of trash from a trash picking spear and causing them to drop into the bucket. A set of notches is formed in the frusto-conical element at the location of the lower opening for receiving the spike of a trash picking tool. The insert has supports that extend downward from the location of the upper opening and engage the outer wall of the bucket. Hooks on the lower ends of the supports are positioned to engage a ridge on the exterior of the bucket to prevent the insert from being pulled out of the bucket in the process of disengaging trash from the picking spear. The insert is collapsible, and can be made from two identical molded parts.
