Manually operated trash compactor for airplane lavatory and method for compacting trash
10351337 · 2019-07-16 · ·

An example lavatory waste compartment includes a waste bin having a waste compartment for trash, a waste flap providing an opening into the waste compartment for insertion of the trash, and a manually operated trash compactor coupled to a ceiling. The manually operated trash compactor includes an expansion component connected to a compacting head, and a retraction component coupled to the expansion component to hold or retract the expansion component to a stowed position. An increase in temperature above a threshold temperature causes the retraction component to release the expansion component resulting in deployment of the compacting head into the waste bin. An actuation device is provided to deploy the expansion component from the stowed position, and when deployed, the expansion component blocks opening of the waste flap, and the retraction component causes the expansion component to retract to the stowed position via release of the actuation device.

Pill management device and associated use thereof

A pill management device includes a portable reservoir having a pill-receiving inlet and an access door spaced from the pill-receiving inlet, a pill-crushing mechanism disposed within the reservoir and configured to transform a solid pill, introduced via the pill-receiving inlet, to pill powder, and a locking mechanism in communication with the access door and the pill-receiving inlet for preventing unauthorized access to the pill powder housed within the reservoir. Advantageously, the locking mechanism locks the access door and the pill-receiving inlet.

Enclosure system

An enclosure system is adapted for exterior storage. The storage system has a rear wall, joined to two side walls with a mechanical housing there between. A first track is arranged on a first inner edge of the first side wall and extends distally away from the mechanical housing while parallel to the ground surface and then downward toward the ground surface. A second track is arranged on a second inner edge on the second side wall and extends distally away from the mechanical housing while parallel to the ground surface and then downward toward the ground surface. A rolling coiling service door is housed in the mechanical housing, and is configured to roll down the first track and the second track to enclose an internal space between the first side wall and the second side wall.

Dynamically Adjustable Sensors for Trash Compactors and Receptacles

Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for dynamically adjusting sensors for use in compactors and receptacles. A receptacle first sends a signal from a transmitter on a first module in a receptacle to a receiver on a second module in the receptacle, wherein the first module is located on a first inner wall of the receptacle and the second module is located on a second inner wall of the receptacle, and wherein at least part of the first module and the second module is located a distance above a bin inside the receptacle. Next, the receptacle determines a signal-detection characteristic including a signal detection status or a number of signal pulses associated with a signal detection. Based on the signal-detection characteristic, the receptacle determines an operating condition of the receptacle, the operating condition including a fullness level or an obstruction level associated with the first or second sensors.

BATTERY COLLECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
20240216726 · 2024-07-04 ·

The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for collecting batteries and other devices for disposal or recycling. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems provide a battery collection bin comprising a transport drum within an enclosure and a removable cartridge or internal basin filled with fire suppressant. Also, in some embodiments, the disclosed systems detect deposit of a battery through a feed chute into the transport drum and determine, based on signals from one or more sensors, a fill level, volume, or weight of the transport drum. In response, embodiments of the disclosed systems utilize a dispensing system to dispense a measure of fire suppressant from the removable cartridge or internal basin into the transport drum to prevent unwanted thermal events. Additional mechanisms and related methods for streamlined and safe collection of batteries and other devices are disclosed.

Modular assembly for regulating moisture and temperature of content in a container

A modular assembly for regulating moisture and temperature of content of a container, and method associated thereof. The system includes a moisture and temperature regulating device with a condenser and an evaporator separated by a heat insulation layer; a container with moist content, the container and the moisture and temperature regulating device are joinable, and moisture and temperature associated with the container are regulated by the moisture and temperature regulating device.

RECEPTACLE FOR WASTE MATERIAL

A receptacle for waste material is disclosed. The receptacle may comprise a cabinet/structure with a hinged/flip door actuated by an actuator such as a foot plate/pedal. Items of waste material may be deposited into the receptacle (e.g. in a hands-free action) through an opening at the flip door actuated from a closed position toward an open position by movement of the foot pedal from a default position to an actuated position. The receptacle may comprise an actuation mechanism such as a linkage/link assembly coupling the flip door to the foot pedal; the mechanism may be configured to shield/cover the linkage from contact with items of waste material. The link/link assembly may comprise a rigid member such as a rod coupled to the side of the flip door and the side of the foot pedal (or to each side of the flip door and the foot pedal). Actuation/action of the flip door with the mechanism may be modified by design/configuration of the foot plate/pedal and design/configuration of the flip door. An internal bin or liner may be provided within the receptacle.

Selectively mobile waste receptacles and methods

Waste receptacles and retractable casters for such waste receptacles are provided. The waste receptacle includes a housing that has an inner volume accessible by an opening. The housing also includes a base. The waste receptacle includes at least one foot attached to the base that is configured to support the waste receptacle in a standing position. On the housing is at least one retractable caster assembly with a caster moveable between a retracted position and an extended position in which the caster extends past the at least one foot to engage a surface on which the waste receptacle is placed. The waste receptacle is selectively disposed in either a standing position or a mobile position in which the receptacle is moveable along the surface by the retractable caster assembly.

FREEZER FOR BIOSANITARY AND CYTOTOXIC WASTE
