Waste Storage Device

A sealing mechanism for a waste storage container includes a waste storage container that has a body, a lid and a cartridge adapted to be positioned in the body. The cartridge has a continuous length of storage film therein. The storage film emanates through a gap between a rim and a core tube of the cartridge and is folded down through a core opening in the core tube into an interior space of the body of the waste storage container. The sealing mechanism includes an actuator accessible from outside the body, a gear assembly operably connected to the actuator, a retaining assembly that holds stationary a dispensed portion of the storage film in the interior space of the body during a twist-closure operation, and a plunger operably connected to the gear assembly

Method for disposing waste packages such as diapers

Methods for facilitating hygienic storage and disposal of waste packages such as used with disposable diapers includes a housing, a rotatable member, and a bag unit having a bag frame and attached single use flexible bag. The user aligns and releasably mounts the bag frame to the housing. The rotatable member has a plurality of inwardly extending fingers. The inwardly extending fingers have a bag contact surface that operatively interacts with the single use flexible bag. A temporary seal is created by twisting a portion of the single use flexible bag with the rotatable member and the package is pushed through the twist for disposal.

Ring for securing a bag to a waste container support includes an annular portion including an upper wall, an inner circumferential wall extending downward from an inner edge region of the upper wall and an outer circumferential wall extending downward from an outer edge region of the upper wall. An annular channel is defined on an underside of the annular portion. The inner and/or outer wall includes pinches each including a pair of slots extending upward from a lower edge of the wall. The slots are spaced apart from one another to enable a solid portion of the wall therebetween to temporarily flex outward, which aids in engagement and disengagement of the ring to a projection on the support, with a bag being sandwiched between the ring and projection and thereby secured to the support. Tabs may extend upward from the upper wall to aid in handling of the ring.

A waste-disposal device for use with a bag unit of the type having an annular component from which a free end of tube extends to form a bag. The waste-disposal device comprises a bin having an open top end for accessing an inner cavity of the bin. A support is in the bin adjacent to the open top end and adapted to support the annular component of the bag unit for waste to be received in the bag of the bag unit extending in the inner cavity of the bin, by passing through a central opening thereof. A closing mechanism comprises a door pivotally connected to the support by at least one pivot and an abutment surface in the bin, a pivot axis of the at least one pivot being located at a same height or higher than a bottommost edge of the annular component of the bag unit when received in the support and when the bin has a bottom thereof on the ground. The door is pivotable between a closed position in which the door presses the bag toward the abutment surface to close the bag, and an open position in which the door is away from the abutment surface to open the bag.

A diaper pail having a top chamber with top transparent doors, and a transparent outer casing, allowing a user to see the rotating inner barrel as it spins within the transparent outer casing. The inner barrel holds a disposable bag and as it rotates the inner barrel untwists the neck of the bag, thus opening the bag for a soiled diaper to fall into the bag from the top chamber, and then the bag returns to its original twisted closed configuration. The soiled diaper falls into the bag while the doors of the top chamber remain shut, keeping malodorous gas from escaping. The visual spectacles provided by this diaper pail also act to change infant and toddler behavior by associating diaper change with a fun and fascinating event.
