A medium feeding apparatus includes a medium mounting section forming a mounting face for mounting a medium thereon, a feeding roller configured to feed a lowermost medium among mediums mounted on the medium mounting section in a feeding direction, and a movement detection unit configured to output information related to movement of the medium in a direction along the mounting face, wherein based on detection information detected by a medium height detection unit that outputs information related to a height of the medium mounted on the mounting section from the mounting face in abnormality detection processing, when the height is less than a first threshold value, a control unit continues feeding the medium regardless of detection information detected by the movement detection unit or without obtaining detection information detected by the movement detection unit.

A pharmaceutical filling system for a high volume pharmacy is described. The system can include a paper feed device and method. The system may include a paper collator with at one selectively openable shelf. A control device may monitor the capacity of the selectively openable shelf, and instruct a printer to hold printing additional print jobs. The selectively openable shelf may then be opened to allow the printed literature resting thereon to fall to a lower shelf, and the printer can then be restarted. Sheets of printed literature may be drawn from the paper collator, collected with any other sheets of printed literature associated with a prescription order, and mated with the prescription order for shipment.

Provided is a medium conveying apparatus to be able to satisfactorily install a roller to assist conveyance of a medium to a loading tray. A medium conveying apparatus includes a loading tray including a placement surface provided with an opening, to place a medium, a roller to assist conveyance of the medium, and a holding part provided on the placement surface, to hold both ends of a rotation axis of the roller. The holding part includes a first arm and a second arm standing on a front side of the placement surface. At least one of the first arm and the second arm is provided to be bent outward in a direction perpendicular to a medium conveying direction when the roller is installed from a back side of the placement surface through the opening.

Transport module for flat items
A transport module for flat items comprising at least one transport element borne in a transport element carrier having a drive shaft is designed for installation in a station of an item processing system and, after installation, is borne rotatably around an axis of the drive shaft. It is one of multiple transport modules of an identical design. The transport element has, on one side, a lower friction coefficient than on the other side of an equator and is driven by the drive shaft via transmission means of the transport module. The transport element carrier carries the transmission means of the transport module and has a spring assembly allowing it to be shifted in the direction of gravity and contrary to it.
Transport module for flat items
A transport module for flat items comprising at least one transport element borne in a transport element carrier having a drive shaft is designed for installation in a station of an item processing system and, after installation, is borne rotatably around an axis of the drive shaft. It is one of multiple transport modules of an identical design. The transport element has, on one side, a lower friction coefficient than on the other side of an equator and is driven by the drive shaft via transmission means of the transport module. The transport element carrier carries the transmission means of the transport module and has a spring assembly allowing it to be shifted in the direction of gravity and contrary to it.
