RECORDING-MEDIUM CONTAINER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A recording-medium container includes a press portion and an urging member. The press portion is disposed to be movable toward and away from a side of a recording medium stack loaded in the recording-medium container, and pressed against the side. The urging member urges the press portion toward the recording medium stack when a quantity of the recording medium stack exceeds a predetermined load.

Variable Separation Pads Based on Lift Height, and Methods to Rotate or Curve the Pads
Separation strips in a dam aid in the separation of adjacent sheets of media being fed from a stack of sheets so that only one sheet is fed to a process station and, more particularly, to separating the uppermost or top sheet of a stack of sheets from the next adjacent sheet during feeding of the top sheet from the stack of sheets of media. When a lift plate is present that adjusts the height of the media stack, rotation of the separation strips to maintain a constant separation angle improves media feed reliability. Curvature of the separation strips may also maintain the separation angle as the lift plate raises the position of the top media sheet.

Paper Sheet Loading Device And Load Adjusting Method
Provided is a paper sheet loading device including a paper sheet loading unit having a bottom plate and a front wall, a feed roller that comes in contact with a bottom surface of a lowermost paper sheet of a batch of paper sheets and rotates to feed the lowermost paper sheet to outside of the paper sheet loading unit, and a load adjusting member arranged so as to protrude into the paper sheet loading unit and retreat to outside of the paper sheet loading unit. At a time of protrusion of the load adjusting member, the load adjusting member presses a front side face of the batch of paper sheets by a pressing surface to displace the front side face to an innermost part, and receives a load from the batch of paper sheets by the pressing surface, thereby reducing the load applied to the feed roller from the batch of paper sheets.

Sheet Conveying Device Having Sheet Supply Tray, and Image Recording Apparatus Incorporating the Sheet Conveying Device
A sheet conveying device includes: a tray; a roller; a roller arm; a lever; and a dust proof cover including: a first cover, a second cover, and a pressure piece. The roller arm is movable between an abutment position where the roller abuts on the tray and a separation position where the roller is away from the tray. The second cover is movable between a first position in proximity to the tray and a second position away from the tray. The pressure piece is away from the lever to permit the roller to be positioned in the abutment position when the second cover is in the first position, and presses the lever to move the roller to the separation position when the second cover is in the second position.
Adaptive pressure media feeding
A tiltenator of a media separator module (integrated within a valuable media depository) adaptively controls pressure maintained against a bunch of media as individual items from the bunch are fed through the media separator module.

RECORDING APPARATUS
A recording apparatus includes a placement unit on which sheets of paper are placed, a feeder that feeds a sheet, thrust mechanisms that push up the placement unit toward the feeder, and an edge guide. Each of the thrust mechanisms includes a coil spring that imparts an urging force to the placement unit, one case that is mounted on the placement unit and receives the coil spring from one end thereof and accommodates the coil spring, and another case that is disposed so as to partially overlap the one case and receives the coil spring from the other end thereof and accommodates the coil spring. The one case and the other case are configured to be movable relative to each other in the urging direction of the coil spring and to be rotatable together in the circumferential direction.
