Airflow control through vacuum platen of a printing system, and related devices, systems, and methods
A printing system comprises an ink deposition assembly and a media transport device. The ink deposition assembly comprises printheads to deposit a print fluid, such as ink, on print media, such as paper. The media transport device holds the print media against a movable support surface, such as a belt, by vacuum suction platen and transports the print media though a deposition region. The vacuum suction is communicated to the movable through platen holes and platen channels in a vacuum platen. At least some of the platen channels have a high impedance region that has a reduced open cross-sectional area as compared to another region of the platen channel.
TRANSPORT DEVICE
A transport device moves a sheet member supported by adsorption portions to a space above a second table being a transport destination, and moves the adsorption portions in a direction of approaching the second table by reducing a speed gradually or stepwisely so as to bring the sheet member into contact with the second table. With this, a transport speed of the sheet member is improved, and air is prevented from entering a space between the sheet member and the table being a transport destination.

A hold-down element (102) is coupled to the guiding structure (101) for holding down the flat element (202) to the guiding structure (101). The hold-down element (102) has a support section (103) on which the flat element (202) is supportable. The hold-down element (102) extends along an extending direction (116) having a component perpendicular to the transport direction (T), wherein suction holes (104) are arranged along the extending direction (116). A suction unit (110) includes a suction opening (111) coupled to the suction holes (104) of the hold-down element (102), an air inlet (112) and an air outlet (113), wherein the suction unit (110) directs air from the air inlet (112) to the air outlet (113) for generating an air flow (114). The suction opening (111) is formed and arranged such that the air flow (114) passes the suction opening (111) so that air flow (114) entrains air through the suction opening (111).
MEDIUM TRANSPORTING DEVICE AND LIQUID JETTING DEVICE
A medium transporting device and a liquid jetting device, which can suppress the lifting of both ends of a medium in a width direction of a medium and can suppress the occurrence of wrinkling of the medium, are provided. The medium transporting device includes a gripping unit that grips a leading end region of a medium, a medium supporting unit that has a first adsorption supporting unit which adsorbs and supports a trailing end region of the medium and a second adsorption supporting unit which adsorbs a non-end region of the medium and generates an adsorption pressure less than an adsorption pressure generated by the first adsorption supporting unit, a medium position moving unit that moves a position in a medium width direction in the medium width direction, and a medium transporting unit that transports the medium. Regarding the width direction, the first adsorption supporting unit has a length, which is obtained by adding a length twice a moving distance of the medium to a medium length, and a distance from a center position in the width direction to one end in the width direction is the same as a distance from the center position in the width direction to the other end in the width direction.
