Method and Apparatus for Producing Coreless Roll Products
A method is provided for removing mandrels from successive rolls of convolutely wound web material. In one aspect, a roll of web convolutely wound around a mandrel is moved to a position in which the mandrel is aligned with a clasp with the clasp spaced apart from the mandrel. The clasp is then moved along a path toward the roll. Movement of the clasp toward the roll is stopped only when the clasp is in a position to engage the mandrel. The mandrel is engaged with the clasp. The clasp and the mandrel are moved away from the roll to withdraw the mandrel from the roll. The mandrel is released from the clasp when the mandrel is removed from the roll. The mandrel is removed from the path of the clasp. The steps are repeated for a subsequent roll.
Systems and methods for HDSS roll packaging
A skid assembly including a skid having a stacking surface and four gum rolls is provided. The gum rolls include a first gum roll positioned on the stacking surface and a second gum roll positioned on the stacking surface and abutting the first gum roll. The first and second gum rolls cooperate to define a first skid layer. The gum rolls further include third and fourth gum rolls each positioned on one of the first or second gum rolls. The fourth gum roll abuts the third gum roll, and the third and fourth gum rolls both cooperate to form a second skid layer. The gum rolls are formed of a strip stock wound onto a core fixture. The strip stock is coated to prevent the strip stock from adhering to itself while being wound into the gum roll.
Method and device for stripping a winding mandrel from a roll
A method for stripping a winding mandrel from a roll formed by wrapping a web around the winding mandrel includes the following phases: to support the formed roll so that an end of the respective winding mandrel is adjacent to a gripping and rotating means for the winding mandrel; to connect the gripping and rotating means to the end of the winding mandrel and through this means place the winding mandrel in axial rotation; and to apply, by means of a translation means, an axial force to the gripping and rotating means and to the mandrel and, according with the axial force, translate this mandrel by sliding it off the formed roll.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HDSS ROLL PACKAGING
A method of forming a gum roll is provided. The method includes providing a strip stock having a first end, a first surface, and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The first end of the strip stock is coupled to a core fixture so the first surface interfaces with the core fixture. The strip stock is rotated to wind the strip stock onto the core fixture such that the first surface interfaces with the second surface to form the gum roll. The method further includes cutting the strip stock to form the second end when the gum roll is wound to an outer roll diameter, the outer roll diameter being greater than a diameter of the core fixture.
Method for producing coreless roll products
A converting line for coreless roll products includes a rewinding machine and a controller. A log of convolutely wound web material is wound in the rewinding machine during a wind cycle. A diameter of the log, a caliper of the web material, and an amount of tension of the web is determined at a plurality of time points during a time period of the winding cycle. The controller is enabled to generate a signal to change an operating condition of the converting line based upon at least one of a diameter determination at a time point during the wind cycle, a caliper determination at a time point during the wind cycle, a wound web amount determination at a time point during the wind cycle, and a tension determination at a time point during the wind cycle.
Folding Apparatus and Corresponding Method
An apparatus (10) for folding sheets (17) and corresponding method, comprising at least a conditioning body (11), at least a folding unit (13) and at least an extraction mean (12) suitable to fold sheets (17) in sequence of variable formats, maintaining high cadences and at the same time simplifying the structure for the maintenance operations and/or format-changes.
DUNNAGE SYSTEM AND METHOD USING A COIL ACCUMULATOR
A dunnage production system for producing coiled strips of dunnage includes a supply of strip-like dunnage, a coiler adjacent the supply and rotatable about a coiling axis for coiling a strip of the strip-like dunnage into a coil having a coiled configuration, and a tube aligned with the coiling axis. The tube has an internal diameter sized to receive the coil from the coiler in a discharge direction parallel to the coiling axis. The tube is capable of holding at least one coil in its coiled configuration until it is removed from the tube.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING CORELESS ROLLS OF PAPER
A clasp is configured to engage an end of a tube. The clasp has a shaft that is insertable into a tube. The clasp includes a housing with clamping blocks that are spaced circumferentially around the shaft. The clamping blocks are moveable between a disengaged position in which the clamping blocks are spaced radially outwardly from the shaft at a distance sufficient such that a tube is insertable between the shaft and the clamping blocks, and an engaged position in which the clamping blocks are positioned radially inward of the disengaged position toward the shaft and are configured to press a tube disposed between the blocks and the shaft against the shaft. The clasp has at least one actuator engageable with at least one clamping block of the plurality of clamping blocks to move the at least one clamping block between the disengaged position and the engaged position.
WINDING MANDREL, WINDING MACHINE, AND BATTERY CELL WINDING METHOD
Provided are a winding mandrel, a winding machine, and a battery cell winding method. The winding mandrel includes a first connecting member and a second connecting member configured to be combined with the first connecting member. The second connecting member and the first connecting member are arranged coaxially, and length of the combined first connecting member and second connecting member is greater than length of the first connecting member or the second connecting member. Changing a structure of a winding mandrel improves stiffness of the winding mandrel and improves the efficiency and quality of a winding operation.
Method for producing coreless rolls of paper
A method of forming a roll of convolutely wound web material. The method includes applying adhesive to an elongated mandrel, winding web material around the mandrel to form a roll of convolutely wound web material, rotating the mandrel relative to the roll to smear the adhesive, and removing the mandrel from the roll. The smearing can be in a circumferential direction. The adhesive can be applied longitudinally along the mandrel. The adhesive preferably has a viscosity within the range of 3000 to 18,000 cps. Preferably, the method includes pulling the mandrel longitudinally before the step of removing the mandrel from the roll. The pulling can reduce the mandrel diameter and/or can increase its length. The rotating can be conducted before the pulling, during the pulling or during the winding. The rotating can be conducted before or during the removing. The web material can be bathroom tissue or kitchen towel.
