A paper-making machine and process, in which a paper web passes over a pope roller to a main roll and a new roll can be brought into contact with the pope roller when the main roll becomes a full roll, is improved by arranging at least two paper cutting tools to cut a paper web from each of two outer lateral edges to form two or more leader portions. A tail of the paper web formed on the full roll is symmetric and the leader portions on the new roll are also symmetric. Adhesive spray or tape can be applied to the paper web in the area of the leader portions. Air jets can also be used to bias the leader portions towards a surface of the new roll.

It is further described a respective method for the in-line winding of bobbins (5) of stretch film (6), comprising the steps of rotating a core (7) on a reel (1) in an operative winding position to wind the film (6) onto the core (7), positioning a contact roll (15a) in at least one proximal contacting position in which it contacts the winding bobbin (5) for facilitating the peripheral winding of the stretch film (6) on the core (7), bringing the reel (1) from the operative winding position of the bobbin (5) to an operative unloading position of the bobbin, positioning an accompanying roll (15b) in at least one proximal contacting position in which it contacts the bobbin (5) for facilitating the peripheral winding of the stretch film (6) on the bobbin (7), transversally cutting the stretch film (6) and unloading the bobbin (5). The movement of the contact roll (15a) and the accompanying roll (15b) is carried out by means of electric actuators (18a, 18b).

In some embodiments, the raised profile tape may be a combination of a tape substrate coated on one side with a web grabbing adhesive and on the other side with a mounting adhesive and a release liner having a release liner substrate fully coated on a first side with a release layer and zone-coated on a second side with a release layer. In some embodiments, an elevated profile may be formed during the application of the raised profile tape with specialized apparatus.
