Control for parent roll unwinding apparatus and methods
A control system for a converting line has a sensor configured to sense a distance between the sensor and a surface of a roll of web material as the roll of web material is unwound from an unwinder and directed to the converting line. The controller is configured to: (i) determine a diameter measurement of the roll as the roll rotates based upon the sensor signals; (ii) store a plurality of data structures in a memory of a controller of a control system wherein the data structures comprise a plurality of data items associated together as the diameter measurements of the roll of the web material; (iii) process by a statistical regression analysis the data structures associated with the diameter; and (iv) generate signals for controlling the converting line based upon the processed diameter measurements.

METHOD FOR ADAPTING AT LEAST ONE WINDING PARAMETER OF A WINDING DEVICE
The invention relates to a method for adapting at least one winding parameter of a winding device during winding of a film web on a winding core, having the following steps:—conveying of the film web along a measuring path between a first driven roll and a second driven roll—increasing of the web tension of the film web between the first roll and the second roll—continuous detecting of the drive parameters of the first roll and of the second roll at least in the form of the torque and the circumferential speed,—determining of a stress-strain diagram from the detected drive parameters—adapting of at least one winding parameter of the winding device on the basis of the determined stress-strain diagram in order to achieve a defined elongation of the film web during winding on the winding core.
WEB-TENSION-MEASURING DEVICE, USE OF SUCH AND A ROLLER COMPRISING A WEB-TENSION-MEASURING DEVICE
A web-tension-measuring device has two plates, which can be rotated relative to one another about an axis of rotation, to be precise such that the one free end of the one plate can be moved towards, or away from, the corresponding, opposite free end of the other plate. A force transducer is arranged in the region of the free ends of the two plates and outside the axis of rotation. The force transducer is configured, during movement of the free ends of the two plates towards one another, to detect a corresponding compressive loading arising from the movement and, during the movement of the free ends away from one another, to detect a corresponding tensile loading between the two plates.
Rolled good feeding device and method
The present application relates to rolled good feeding device and method. Material feeding devices and methods are provided for conveying material from material rolls. The material roll may be adjusted in the longitudinal direction during the feeding process by a rectifying frame to aid in maintaining alignment during the unrolling. Tension of the unrolled material may be monitored and unrolling speeds of the feeding device can be adjusted to maintain tension of the material within a range for that material. Aspects also contemplate elements to feed multiple rolled materials simultaneously for subsequent processing in combination as layered materials.
Systems for unwinding a roll of thermoplastic material interleaved with a porous material, and related methods
An apparatus (un-interleaver) for unwinding a roll of material interleaved with another material, and for separating the materials, includes a first platform, a second platform, a tension-sensor, an edge-sensor, and a controller. The controller monitors signals generated by the tension-sensor and the edge-sensor, and in response to the signals: a) causes the speed at which the second platform rotates to change to maintain a predetermined tension in the second material as the second material travels from the first platform toward the second platform, and b) causes the second platform to move relative to the first platform to align the edge of the second material traveling toward the roll of second material with the edge of the second material in the roll.
AUTOMATED GARMENT MANUFACTURING USING CONTINUOUS WEBS OF FABRIC
Embodiments herein describe automated systems and methods to assemble a garment, such as a T-shirt. Some embodiments provide for systems and methods for transferring and manipulating fabrics and joining garment components during garment manufacturing in a way that is more suitable to automation. Some embodiments provide for garment manufacturing systems and methods that are reconfigurable to enable both mass production of customized garments and small batch processing with reduced human intervention.
FILM WINDING SYSTEM AND FILM STRETCHING UNIT USING SUCH FILM WINDING SYSTEM
A film winding system (1) for a film stretching unit (110) comprises a film entry area (3) through which a film web (2) to be wound can be fed to the film winding system (1). A first winding station (4) is configured in a winding position to wind the film web (2) into a film bale (5). A contact roller (6) and a measuring roller (8) are provided, the contact roller (6) being arranged adjacent to the first winding station (4) in the winding position and being configured to guide the film web (2) to the first winding station (4). The measuring roller (8) is arranged before the contact roller (6) in the movement direction of the film web (2) and is configured to guide the film web (2) to the contact roller (6). A first adjustment device (10) is provided and configured to move the measuring roller (8) relative to the contact roller (6) along a travel path in such a way that a degree of wrapping over which the film web (2) covers the contact roller (6) can be varied.
CONTROLLING TENSION OF A MEDIA DURING PRINTING
The disclosure relates to a method of controlling tension of a media during printing. The media is tensioned by supporting a dancer bar coupled at a first end to a first dancer arm which moves about a first pivot. The tension is provided by resisting a net moment acting on the first dancer arm. The method comprises applying a first setting force to the first dancer arm to set the net moment acting on the first dancer arm and adjusting the first setting force to alter the net moment acting on the first dancer arm.
