SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet conveying device includes a sheet conveying passage and a switching guide. The switching guide switches the sheet conveying passage between first and second sheet conveying passages. The switching guide includes a plurality of guide ribs and guide members. The plurality of guide ribs are disposed at intervals in the sheet width direction and extend in the sheet conveying direction. The guide members are fitted to specific guide ribs selected from the plurality of guide ribs. The plurality of guide ribs have first and second guide surfaces that guide the sheet. The guide members are formed of a material having higher slidability than the plurality of guide ribs, and have third guide surfaces that are disposed at positions protruding further to an inner side of the sheet conveying passage than the first or second guide surfaces.

Sheet conveying device and image forming apparatus incorporating the sheet conveying device
A sheet conveying device includes a first duct, a second duct, and a switching member. The first duct is disposed at a first side of a sheet conveyance passage to face a first face of a sheet passing the sheet conveyance passage and has a first air blowing port through which air is blown toward the sheet conveyance passage. The second duct is disposed at a second side of the sheet conveyance passage to face a second face of the sheet passing the sheet conveyance passage and has a second air blowing port through which air is blown toward the sheet conveyance passage. The switching member is disposed downstream from the first and second air blowing ports in a sheet conveyance direction and configured to switch the sheet conveyance passage. No pair of rollers is disposed between the switching member and each of the first and second blowing ports.

Printing apparatus and method of controlling printing apparatus
A printing apparatus includes a first discharge path that discharges a sheet and a second discharge path different from the first discharge path. An angle difference between a direction in which the sheet is discharged in the second discharge path and a conveyance direction of a conveyance roller is less than an angle difference between a direction in which the sheet is discharged in the first discharge path and the conveyance direction of the conveyance roller. The printing apparatus includes a control unit that discharges the sheet on which the image is printed using the second discharge path even in a case where an instruction to print an image indicates discharging the sheet to the first discharge path, if the sheet conveyed by the conveyance roller is a sheet having a thickness equal to or greater than a predetermined value.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DIVERTING AND/OR FOLDING ARTICLES
An apparatus for diverting and/or folding articles includes an infeed conveyor, an outfeed conveyor, and a diverter. The diverter is a non-contact, fluid emitting diverter, configured to emit a fluid jet to exhibit the diverting force on the impact zone of the article at a side of the article facing away from the outfeed entry. An angle of the average direction of the diverting force of the fluid jet with the outfeed path at the outfeed entry is in the range of 5° to 85°.

CONVEYANCE DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A conveyance device includes: a conveyance unit that conveys a material to be conveyed; a guide unit that guides the material to be conveyed, the guide unit being movable between a first position at which a first conveyance path is formed and a second position at which a second conveyance path is formed; a driving unit that drives the conveyance unit and the guide unit; a restriction unit that comes into contact with the guide unit moving in a moving direction from the second position to the first position at the first position by a driving force of the driving unit to restrict the movement of the guide unit in the moving direction; and a blocking unit that blocks transmission of the driving force of the driving unit to the guide unit when a moving load greater than or equal to a predetermined load acts on the guide unit moving in the moving direction.
