Value note cassette

A value note cassette includes a first storage area for storing first notes of value of a first value note type. The first notes of value are storable in the first storage area in a first orientation. The value note cassette also includes a second storage area for storing second notes of value of a second value note type. The second storage area is separate from the first storage area. The second notes of value are storable in the second storage area in a second orientation. The first orientation is orthogonal to the second orientation.

DELIVERY ITEM SORTING MACHINE

A sorting machine can include an output bin that includes a transport belt to transport a delivery item (e.g., a letter) from a distribution belt at a first speed. The output bin can include a braking roller to reduce the speed of the delivery item by operating at a second tangential speed that is slower than the first speed. The output bin can also include an auger assembly to apply a force to move at least the trailing portion of the item in a manner that clears the path to the braking roller for additional delivery items. The output bin can also include a bumper pad to stop the delivery item, where the delivery item is stopped against the bumper pad after being slowed down by contact with the braking roller. The slowed speed causes the delivery item to come to rest approximately in alignment with additional delivery items.

APPARATUS FOR FEEDING AN UNSTACKER MAGAZINE WITH MAILPIECES ON EDGE

Apparatus (1) for feeding an unstacker magazine (2) with mailpieces (3) on edge, which apparatus includes a first feed conveyor (4) for conveying trays (6) extending crosswise and loaded with mailpieces placed flat on the bottoms of the trays, and tray tipping means (8) for pivoting a tray forwards onto a ramp of the tray tipping means so as to bring the mailpieces on edge from the tray to the unstacker magazine. The apparatus includes a second feed conveyor (5) for conveying trays (6) extending lengthwise and loaded with mailpieces (3) placed on edge on the bottoms of the trays, and tray tipping-over means (9) designed for laying a tray over on its side onto the unstacker magazine.

A sheet handling device includes: a first storage; a second storage using a storage method different form that of the first storage; a transporter that transports a sheet; and a controller that controls the transporter to transport the sheet. When the second storage is neither a transport source of the sheet nor a transport destination of the sheet, the controller controls the transporter to transport the sheet at a first speed. When the second storage is at least the transport source of the sheet or the transport destination of the sheet, the controller controls the transporter to transport the sheet at a second speed lower than the first speed.

PAPER SHEET ACCOMMODATING UNIT AND PAPER SHEET PROCESSING DEVICE

To prevent erroneous transfer onto a paper sheet loading platform and improve the operation stability over the entire length of a long-edge direction of a pressing member by ensuring a long time during which the pressing member continues to push in a paper sheet alone. To include two rotating bodies 120 and 130 that have recesses 120a and 130a and are rotatable in opposite directions to each other in synchronization with each other, a pressing member 140 that is movable and presses an intermediate portion of a back of a paper sheet forward, a drive mechanism 180, and a paper sheet loading platform 200. The drive mechanism rotates each rotating body by an angle from 195 degrees to 270 degrees in a time period after the pressing member starts to bring a center of the paper sheet into contact with the paper sheet loading platform from an initial state until the pressing member leaves the center of the paper sheet.

BANKNOTE RECYCLER

A generally vertical banknote recycling bay arrangement comprising a generally vertically oriented banknote recycling bay for receiving banknotes therein, the recycling bay having an upper end and a lower end. The arrangement further comprising a banknote feeding assembly for feeding banknotes, one at a time, into the recycling bay, the feeding assembly being positioned near the upper end of the recycling bay. The arrangement further comprising a banknote dispensing assembly for feeding banknotes, one at a time, out of the recycling bay, the dispensing assembly being positioned near the upper end of the recycling bay. The arrangement further comprising a pair of stacker wheels supported for rotational movement about a driven stacker wheel shaft, each stacker wheel being laterally moveable along the driven stacker wheel shaft and a stacker wheel positioning mechanism configured to adjust the lateral positions of the pair of stacker wheels along the stripper wheel shaft. During operation in which banknotes are to be fed into the recycling bay, the lateral position of the stacker wheels is adjusted by the stacker wheel positioning mechanism to an inward position such that banknotes to be fed into the recycling bay are received by the stacker wheels and stacked in the recycling bay. During operation in which banknotes are to be fed out of the recycling bay, the lateral position of the stacker wheels is adjusted by the stacker wheel positioning mechanism to an outward position such that banknotes to be fed out the recycling bay are not engaged by the stacker wheels but instead are engaged by the banknote dispensing assembly which sequentially engages the topmost banknote stacked in the recycling bay and feeds banknotes out of the recycling bay, one bill at a time.

AN INSTALLATION FOR SORTING MAILPIECES

An installation (1) for sorting mailpieces (2) includes an unstacker having an unstacking plate (3) suitable for separating a mailpiece at the head of a stack of mailpieces so as to feed a sorting conveyor (4) in which the mailpieces (1), as put into series, are moved in series and on edge. The installation (1) also includes: a feed inlet magazine (6) upstream from the unstacking plate with a motor-driven floor (8) designed to receive a stack of mailpieces (2) on edge; and a retaining paddle (9) that is mounted to move along the magazine and that is suitable for being placed behind the stack to keep it on edge while it is moving on the motor-driven floor towards the unstacking plate.

Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item

Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item in a receptacle are disclosed. Features are disclosed for receiving and guiding an item in a receiving space of a receptacle so as to attenuate or remove the impact force of the item on the receptacle. Some embodiments of the disclosure include a bumper having an impact surface which absorbs most or all of the impact force of the item and thereby mitigates or removes the imposition of cyclic impact loads on the receptacle from repeated receipt of items. The bumper may be structurally and/or functionally de-coupled or otherwise physically separated from the receptacle such that an advantageous division of labor is created between absorbing the impact and receiving the item. This disclosure may be useful, for example, in modern industrial operations where a high volume of items are received daily, such as in mail sorting and handling operations.
