Operating unit for interleaving machines

An interleaving unit, comprising a pair of rolls (1, 2) set alongside one another and counter-rotating and provided with respective first and second folding tools (3, 4; 5, 6) set at a distance from one another along the circumferential development of the respective peripheral surfaces so as to operate in a common point of tangency (Z) on a succession of sheets (7a, 7b) fed between the two rolls, said tools (3, 4; 5, 6) being set on respective mobile cylinder sectors (8, 9, 10, 11) to enable positioning thereof at an adjustable distance apart along the circumferential development of a corresponding roll (1, 2), said interleaving unit comprising means (M1, M2, U) for independently adjusting the speed of rotation of one or more of said sectors according to their angular position in order to reduce or increase the peripheral speed of said sectors with respect to a speed of feed (Vm) of said sheets.

Apparatus for forming sheets of different lengths or sheets with different panel lengths

Apparatuses and methods of forming sheets having different lengths are provided. The apparatuses and methods may also be used to form panel lengths of different values using a same processing roll. In some embodiments, the diameter of the roll need not change. In some embodiments, the spacing between adjacent rolls need not be changed when transitioning from one sheet length to another sheet length. In some embodiments, the processing roll includes an excess material receiving component that can be active or deactivated to switch between different sheet sizes.

Apparatuses and methods of forming sheets having different lengths are provided. The apparatuses and methods may also be used to form panel lengths of different values using a same processing roll. In some embodiments, the diameter of the roll need not change. In some embodiments, the spacing between adjacent rolls need not be changed when transitioning from one sheet length to another sheet length. In some embodiments, the processing roll includes an excess material receiving component that can be active or deactivated to switch between different sheet sizes.

A folding or interfolding unit includes first and second folding or interfolding rolls to fold or interfold the sheets of paper according to a predetermined folding or interfolding configuration. The first and second folding or interfolding rolls include, respectively, a tubular body configured to rotate in a predetermined direction of rotation about a longitudinal rotation axis, and gripping groups, each of which includes a mechanical gripping member configured to move, at a gripping point, from an opening position to a closing position, which is arranged to mechanically hold the sheets up to a releasing point. Each gripping group includes at least one suction hole associated to each mechanical gripping member. A vacuum distribution device selectively pneumatically connects at least one suction hole at a time to a device for generating a predetermined vacuum degree, to cause the sheets of paper to adhere between starting and ending positions.

The control unit is communicatively coupled to the first tension unit and the folding unit and includes a processor, and a memory. The memory contains instructions executable by the processor. The material is threaded along a path through the machine via the first tension unit and the folding unit. Executing the instructions causes the control unit to control the machine.
