APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR APPLYING PARALLEL FLARED ELASTICS TO DISPOSABLE PRODUCTS AND DISPOSABLE PRODUCTS CONTAINING PARALLEL FLARED ELASTICS

An apparatus for applying elastics to a running web including a crank and arm, the arm arranged to reciprocate from side to side during use and having a laydown carriage carried on the arm, the laydown carriage including at least one eyelet arranged to support an elastic strand, the assembly further including a shoe guide.

Apparatus and method for applying parallel flared elastics to disposable products and disposable products containing parallel flared elastics

A series of elastic break brakes are provided throughout a travel path of elastics in a machine operation. Elastic strands thread through each individual brake mechanism, and if an elastic strand breaks downstream, a natural snap back of the elastic, which ordinarily travels through the system under tension, drives an immediately upstream cam mechanism back, and holds the elastic thread in place at the elastic break brake immediately upstream of the break as to minimize rethreading required downstream of the elastic break brake.

A self-synchronizing yarn tension control system is provided. Self-synchronizing yarn tension control includes a yarn brake, a yarn movement sensor, a yarn tension sensor, a yarn brake, and a controller configured to control the system. The controller is configured to store one or more tension thresholds and store instructions that when executed cause one or more processors to perform operations. The operations include obtaining a yarn movement signal from the yarn movement sensor, determining whether a textile machine is operational based, at least in part on the yarn movement signal, obtaining a yarn tension signal from the yarn tension sensor, comparing the yarn tension signal to the one or more tension thresholds, generating one or more brake control signals based on said comparison, and operating the yarn brake based upon each of the one or more brake signals.

WORKSTATION OF A TEXTILE MACHINE AND METHOD FOR MONITORING THE THREAD RUN OF A RUNNING THREAD AT A WORKSTATION OF A TEXTILE MACHINE

A method for monitoring the thread run at a workstation of a textile machine having a thread feeding device for supplying a thread, a traversing device for traversing the supplied thread, a thread winding device for winding the traversed thread onto a run-on bobbin, a pneumatic thread storage, a thread storage unit with a thread guide arm pivotably mounted about a pivot axis, a controllable drive unit for reversible pivoting of the thread guide arm, and a sensor unit collecting sensor information about a thread tension acting on the thread guide arm and/or a position of the thread guide arm, and transmitting the sensor information to a control system associated with the workstation. The thread storage unit is arranged at the workstation such that the control system detects a thread breakage and/or an emptied pneumatic thread storage on the basis of the transmitted sensor information.

During the process of making elastomeric laminates, elastic material is advanced and stretched in a machine direction and may be joined with one or more substrates advancing in the machine direction. During the assembly process, one-way snare apparatuses and methods may be configured to automatically isolate elastic materials that may break. The one-way snares may include a housing and a snare member movably connected with the housing, wherein the snare member is movable relative to the housing between a first position and a second position. The one-way snares are adapted to permit advancement of continuous elastic strands in a first direction through the housing when the snare members are in the first position, and to prevent an end portion a broken elastic strand from retracting in a second direction through the housing when the snare member is in the second position, wherein the second direction is opposite the first direction.
