Image forming apparatus that controls feeding operation
An image forming apparatus includes a detection unit to detect recording material fed from a stacking unit, a determination unit, a count unit, and a control unit. The determination unit determines that a feeding failure has occurred when the detection unit does not detect the recording material until elapse of a predetermined period. The count unit counts a number of times the feeding operation is performed for a single sheet of the recording material. When the counted number of feeding operation performance times by when the feeding failure has occurred is smaller than a threshold, the control unit restarts the feeding operation that has been stopped without waiting for a user's operation. When the counted number of feeding operation performance times by when the feeding failure has occurred is at least equal to the threshold, the control unit waits for the user's operation while the feeding operation is stopped.

A medium conveying apparatus includes a driving force transmitting mechanism to transmit a driving force from a first motor to a brake roller and a pair of conveyance rollers located on the downstream side of the brake roller, and a processor to rotate the first motor forward to control so that a medium separated by the brake roller is conveyed by the pair of conveyance rollers, in a separation mode. The processor rotates the first motor backward to perform a feed operation by the brake roller and rotate the pair of conveyance rollers backward until a front edge of the medium passes through a position of the brake roller, and rotates the first motor forward to control so that the medium is conveyed by the pair of conveyance rollers after the front edge of the medium passes through the position of the brake roller, in a non-separation mode.

The posture switching section is configured to switch between a first posture in which the casing is inclined obliquely and a second posture in which the casing is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction more than in the first posture. An image forming device with a collapsible paper guide is provided. The image forming device includes a casing, a first tray structure and a paper guide. A medium gateway opening is formed on the casing. The first tray structure is disposed on the casing and adjacent to the medium gateway opening. The paper guide includes a first base disposed on the first tray structure and a first guiding component pivotally connected to the first base. The paper guide is switchable relative to the first tray structure between a used position and a stored position. A first included angle included between the first guiding component and the first base is less than 90 degrees when the paper guide is located at the used position, so that the first guiding component can be interfered and driven to pivotally fold for preventing the paper guide from being broken or damaged.
