Various powered mobility systems for users are described. The powered mobility system can include at least one powered skate. The powered skate can include a platform, a plurality of wheels, and a motor assembly. The motor assembly can include a motor. The motor can be powered by a power supply. A motor control can be implemented to determine when power is supplied to the motor from the power supply.

Suspension systems for an electric skateboard

A self-propelled, one-wheeled vehicle may include a suspension system configured to dampen up and down motion of a board relative to the axle of a central wheel assembly when the vehicle encounters obstacles and bumps on a riding surface. Illustrative suspension systems include a shock absorber, a rocker, a pushrod, bell cranks, and/or a swingarm that couple the axle to the board. The suspension system may be disposed completely below a foot deck of the vehicle.

Suspension system for one-wheeled vehicle

A self-propelled, one-wheeled vehicle may include a suspension system configured to provide arcuate, generally vertical motion of a board relative to an axle of a central wheel assembly when the vehicle encounters obstacles and bumps on a riding surface. Illustrative suspension systems may include a shock absorber and a swingarm that couple the wheel assembly to the board.

A truck and a skateboard assembly comprised of two trucks and a deck. The truck of the present invention has three rigid bodies and two degrees of freedom. The three rigid bodies comprise: (1) the deck and baseplate assembly for the skateboard assembly, or the baseplate assembly for the truck; (2) the hanger assembly; and (3) the floating kingpin assembly. The three rigid bodies are joined together by three spherical joints and elastomerically coupled and constrained by elastomeric components. The truck of the present invention provides the combined functionality of deep deck lean, improved steering control over a wider range of speed, improved speed stability, and improved suspension compared to existing skateboard trucks.

Exemplary embodiments are directed to a base plate for a skateboard that includes a body, and first and second pivot cups. The body includes a proximal end and a distal end. The first pivot cup extends from the body at or near the distal end. The second pivot cup is spaced from the first pivot cup and extends from the body at or near the proximal end. The second pivot cup defines an outer perimeter surface having an uninterrupted height. The second pivot cup includes an opening extending therethrough and surrounded by the outer perimeter surface of the second pivot cup. The second pivot cup includes one or more channels extending from the opening and through at least a portion of the second pivot cup. The one or more channels extend through at least the portion of the second pivot cup without extending through the outer perimeter surface.

TRUCK CARRYING ADAPTER FOR SKATEBOARD

Apparatus, systems, and methods in which a truck carrying member, for coupling a conventional truck to a skateboard, comprises a pivoting plate and optionally a base plate. For example, the base and pivoting plates are rotatably coupled at a pivot comprising an elastic flexible member that biases the pivoting plate to a default position (e.g., center of the base plate). Preferably, the base plate and pivoting plate each has a mounting surface and a pivoting surface that form an obtuse angle, such that the mounting surface of the pivoting surface extends downward. Another example of a pivoting plate comprises flexible members that allow the pivoting plate to tilt relative to the skateboard.

A skateboard includes a deck, one or more wheels, and a truck coupled to the deck and to the one or more wheels. The truck has a base plate for coupling to the deck, an axle for coupling to the one or more wheels, and a shaft secured to the base plate at one end, and to the axle at the other end. The shaft is capable of rotational movement with respect to the base plate about a first axis. The axle is capable of rotational movement with respect to the shaft about a second axis. First and second linkages extend from the base plate to the axle. The shaft and the first and second linkages work together to convert a leaning motion of the deck into a turning motion of the axle to control steering of the skateboard during use.
