A sheet accommodating device includes a housing; a sheet accommodating portion configured to accommodate a sheet and detachably mountable in the housing, the accommodating portion including, a supporting member supporting the accommodating portion so as to be rotatable relative to the housing, a movable member movable relative to the supporting member along the supporting member, a first urging member urging the movable member in a moving direction of the supporting member, a regulating member movable in a direction crossing with the moving direction of the movable member, and a second urging member urging the regulating member so as to protrude it from the movable member. The housing is provided with an engageable member engaged with the regulating member.

Mounting structure of cassette with protruded supporter to main body

The image forming apparatus may include a main body and a cassette to enter or exit the main body along a first direction to be mounted in or released from the main body, respectively. The cassette may include a supporter extendable in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction to protrude from an exterior of the main body. The main body may include a lever which is movable in the first direction between a supporting position at which the lever supports the main body and a release position at which to allow the cassette to enter or exit the main body along the first direction.

Tray Insertion Velocity Limiting Mechanism

When a media tray is inserted into a printer with the leading edge of the printed page going into the printer first, multiple sheets of media may slide off the media stack (shingle) into the paper path if the primary input tray is inserted too aggressively. This may result in double feeds and/or paper jams for the user. Disclosed is a mechanism that is transparent to the user for slow speed tray insertions but provides force feedback to the user indicating tray insertion at too high of speed. If the user inserts the tray below the speed threshold, then the result is a normal tray insertion. If the user inserts the paper tray above the speed threshold, then there is a feedback to the user to slow the tray insertion to an acceptable velocity.

Medium conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus

Disclosed herein is a medium conveying apparatus in which the time for unjamming can be shortened. The medium conveying apparatus includes rollers configured to convey a card Ca, a rotary unit F provided in a medium conveyance path and configured to hold and rotate the card Ca, a sensor SN26 arranged downstream the rotary unit F on the medium conveyance path and, and a control section. The control section controls a first card-conveyance motor for driving the rollers to convey the card Ca into the rotary unit F, and determines whether the sensor SN26 detects the card Ca. The sensor SN26 is arranged at the same distance as a sensor SN3 or a shorter distance than the sensor SN3, from the rotary unit F.

SHEET STORAGE DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

A sheet storage device for storing sheets includes a supporting unit, a regulation unit, and a moving unit. The supporting unit supports stored sheets. The regulation unit is movably arranged on the supporting unit, and regulates a position of an edge portion of a sheet. The moving unit moves the regulation unit. The moving unit includes moving members to move in a direction parallel to a moving direction of the regulation unit. The moving members are moved by rotation of a rotation member in a case where the rotation member is in contact with the moving members. In a case where a fixing member attached to the sheet storage device in place of the rotation member, movement of the moving members is regulated by placing the moving members into contact with the fixing member.

Image recording device having a compact form factor

An image recording device is provided, having a recording unit configured to record an image on a sheet, and a tray disposed below the recording unit. The tray includes a sheet holding surface configured to hold the sheet. Additionally, the image recording device includes a sheet feeder disposed between the recording unit and the tray. The sheet feeder includes a roller for feeding the sheet from the tray. The roller is configured to move between a first roller position in which the roller contacts the sheet holding surface of the tray and a second roller position in which the roller is separated from the sheet holding surface. A return guide, disposed between the recording unit and the sheet feeder, defines a second conveying path to guide the sheet having an image recorded on one side thereof back to the feed guide. The return guide has a first opening configured to accommodate the roller of the sheet feeder when the roller is in the second roller position.

SHEET SEPARATING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

A sheet separating device includes a sheet separator that includes plural separating portions which have a planar shape and which are stacked one on top of another. The sheet separator has openings provided between the plural separating portions at both ends of the plural separating portions in a sheet passing direction. The sheet separator allows gaps between the plural separating portions facing one another to receive one of plural sheets apiece so as to cause the plural sheets to be kept separated from one another. The sheet separating device is held on a placement portion of a sheet processing apparatus that includes a sheet processing unit and the placement portion. The sheet processing unit sequentially feeds thereinto the plural sheets through a feeding opening and performs processing on the plural sheets. The plural sheets to be fed through the feeding opening are placed on the placement portion.

A sheet feeding sub tray is detachably attachable to a sheet loading stand of a sheet conveying device that includes a setting reference part on one end side of the sheet loading stand in a sheet width direction. The sheet feeding sub tray includes a small-size setting reference part disposed at a position closer to a center of the sheet loading stand in the sheet width direction than the setting reference part in a state in which the sheet feeding sub tray is installed to the sheet loading stand.

Sheet stacker, image forming apparatus, and sheet conveyance control method

A sheet stacker includes a sheet stack table on which a sheet is stacked and a sheet reversing section disposed above the sheet stack table. The sheet reversing section defines a sheet reverse passage to reverse a direction of conveyance of a sheet fed to the sheet reversing section. The sheet reversing section includes a first sheet guide to guide a bottom face of the sheet and a second sheet guide disposed downstream from the first sheet guide in a sheet conveyance direction in which the sheet is fed to the sheet reversing section. The second sheet guide to guide the bottom face of the sheet is attachable to and removable from an apparatus body.

The sheet feed device includes a sheet containing cassette with a sheet stacking plate therein, a sheet feed part enabled to feed a sheet within the sheet containing cassette set in a setting position, a first sensing mechanism, a lift mechanism, a drive mechanism, and a controller. The lift mechanism includes a cassette-side coupling member for transmitting driving force to the sheet stacking plate. The drive mechanism includes a main body-side coupling member coupled with the cassette-side coupling member. When the first sensing mechanism has sensed that no sheets are stacked on the sheet stacking plate, the controller makes the main body-side coupling member rotate reverse to move down the sheet stacking plate and, even after the sheet stacking plate lowers, makes the main body-side coupling member continue to be rotated reverse so as to move out the sheet containing cassette from the setting position.
