A feeding apparatus configured to feed a sheet, the feeding apparatus including: a placement unit on which the sheet is placed, the placement unit being movable in an intersecting direction intersecting with a sheet feeding direction; a feeding unit configured to feed the sheet placed on the placement unit in the sheet feeding direction; and a first guide unit and a second guide unit configured to guide the placement unit in the intersecting direction, wherein the first guide unit is disposed below the feeding unit and the second guide unit and downstream of the second guide unit in the sheet feeding direction.

REMOVABLE MEDIA TRAY HAVING A HIGH LATCHING FORCE AND A LOW OPENING FORCE

A removable media tray assembly for an image forming device according to one embodiment includes a media tray having a bottom surface and a front wall extending upward from the bottom surface. A bottom surface defines a media storage location for storing a stack of media sheets. The assembly includes a housing having an opening therein to receive the media tray. A magnet and a plate provide a latching force FL greater than a pick motor stall force keeping the media tray in a closed position during media picking. A handle assembly including a finger bar and a pivoting link is mounted to the front wall. With the media tray being held closed by the latching force, a user-supplied actuation force FA that is less than 22.2 N applied to the finger bar, pivots the link which acts as a force multiplier providing a release force exceeding the latching force.

Two axis media guide system for an imaging device

A removable media tray with a two-axis media restraint system having a user-actuated rear media restraint operatively coupled to a side media restraint via a camming member. The rear media restraint includes a latching assembly for slidably latching with one of the indents along a track, each indent corresponding to a supported media length. The camming member having a predefined camming profile surface is coupled to and movable with the rear media restraint. As the rear media restraint moves along the track, camming member moves with the rear media restraint in the same direction engaging first and second cam follower portions of the side media restraint causing the side media restraint to move to contact a side edge of a media stack with the position of the side media restraint depending on a position of the first and second cam follower portions on the camming profile surface.

MEDIUM DISCHARGE DEVICE AND IMAGE READING APPARATUS

A medium discharge device includes a discharge roller pair that is provided with a discharge driving roller and a discharge driven roller which drivably rotates in contact with the discharge driving roller, and a medium receiving tray which receives the medium that is fed and discharged by the discharge roller pair, in which the medium receiving tray includes a guide member which guides such that a tip end of the medium which is discharged from the discharge roller pair enters the medium mounting surface at a predetermined angle, and the guide member is provided to be elastically displaceable in an advancing and retreating direction with respect to the medium mounting surface of the medium receiving tray and is displaced in a direction coming close to the medium mounting surface according to raising of a pressing load due to the medium that is discharged to the medium receiving tray.

Image forming apparatus

By abutting a positioning member against an abutting surface provided in an image forming apparatus body, positioning in a mounting direction of a sheet storing portion drawably mounted on the image forming apparatus body. A position of the positioning member is changed stepwise by a support portion having a receiving surface abutting against the positioning member, and the shift of the sheet storing portion positioned by the positioning member with respect to the image forming portion is adjusted stepwise.

Method of controlling discharge of printed sheets as sheet bundle, sheet discharge control apparatus, and storage medium
09555651 · 2017-01-31 · ·

A method of controlling discharge of printed sheets, which makes it possible to acquire a desired number of printed sheets as a sheet bundle. A controller determines whether or not printed sheets are stored in the stacker. The controller detects the number of printed sheets stored in the stacker. A controller causes the stored printed sheets to be discharged from the stacker as a sheet bundle when the number of printed sheets stored in the stacker is equal to a desired sheet count set by a user. In a case where the set desired sheet count has been changed, if it is determined that the printed sheets are stored in the stacker, the controller causes the printed sheets stored in the sheet discharge unit to be discharged from the stacker.

Systems for sensing sheet restraint position

An imaging device having a sheet restraint sensing system is disclosed. The system includes a frame having an opening, a linear sensor strip located on the frame having a length, and a media tray having a sheet restraint that presses against the linear sensor strip when the media tray is located in the opening. The sheet restraint is constrained by the media tray to move relative to the media tray no more than a maximum adjustment displacement. The maximum adjustment displacement is less than the length of the linear sensor strip. Other systems are disclosed.
