An electric skateboard has a frame assembly that includes a deck with an opening of the deck to house a battery case mounted to a bottom of the deck. The frame includes a top plate that covers the opening and forms with the battery case an enclosure. A battery pack is positioned in at least partially in the enclosure. Front and a rear trucks are mounted to the bottom of the deck. At least one of the first and front and rear trunks is coupled to first and second wheels mounted on axles of the front and rear trucks. The front truck is mounted on the front end and a rear truck is mounted on rear end of the deck. First and second wheels are powered by one motor with a differential and a shaft coupled to the first and second wheel. The motor is coupled to the shaft to rotate the first and second wheels. The motor is electrically connected to the battery pack through a rear channel. The motor rotates the first and second wheels in the same directions and propels the electric skateboard forward and backward.

The left wheel train is connected with the left housing assembly. The first end of the rotation mechanism is connected with the right wheel train and the right housing assembly, and the second end of the rotation mechanism is inserted into the left housing assembly and rotationally connected with the left housing assembly. The rotation mechanism is just arranged in the right housing assembly, but connected with the right housing assembly and the right wheel train respectively, thus reducing the strength requirements of the self-balancing vehicle on the left housing assembly and simplifying the components of the left housing assembly.

A unitary support bar is disposed within the housing, and a left drive wheel and an opposed right drive wheel are each coupled to the support bar. A bracket encircles the support bar; the bracket has a cylindrical body formed with a slot through the body. A set screw is fixed to the support bar and is received within the slot to limit rotational movement of the support bar with respect to the bracket.

A skateboard truck includes a metal bolt called a kingpin and a threaded fastener, called a hex nut, which when combined hold the two main components of a truck together: the baseplate, which is mounted to the bottom surface of the skateboard deck; and the turning part of the truck called the hanger, which is mounted onto the baseplate by means of the kingpin, and affixed tightly into the baseplate by means of a threaded hex nut. Two bushings placed along the shaft of the kingpin and on either side of a flange protruding from the hanger hold the hanger in place by the tightening of the kingpin into the threaded shaft nut fastener. The kingpin is oriented such that a threaded portion of the kingpin (on an end opposite a bolt head portion) is generally facing towards a bottom surface of the skateboard deck.
