PRINTING APPARATUS
A printing apparatus includes: a printing unit; a first conveyance unit configured to convey a sheet to the printing unit with nipping the sheet; a second conveyance unit provided on a downstream side of the first conveyance unit in a conveyance direction of the sheet, and configured to convey the sheet with nipping the sheet; a third conveyance unit provided on a downstream side of the second conveyance unit in the conveyance direction, and configured to convey the sheet with nipping the sheet; and a switching unit configured to switch a nip state of the second conveyance unit and a released state in which the nip state is released. When the sheet is conveyed by the third conveyance unit, the switching unit switches the nip state and the released state in accordance with a length of the sheet.
Sheet conveying apparatus, image processing apparatus, and conveyance control method
A sheet conveying apparatus includes a pair of regulating units both of which are movable in a width direction in a document placement unit, a detection processing unit that detects a separation distance between the pair of regulating units, a restriction processing unit that restricts execution of a specific process of conveying a document when a difference between the separation distance detected at a specific timing and a reference distance exceeds a threshold value, and a cancellation processing unit that cancels the restriction on execution of the specific process when the separation distance detected after the restriction on execution of the specific process by the restriction processing unit is the same as the separation distance detected before the detection timing of the separation distance and on or after the specific timing.
Medium feeding apparatus
A medium feeding apparatus includes a medium mounting section, a movable edge guide that guides both edges of the medium mounted on the medium mounting section and has a first edge guide and a second edge guide, a feeding section, and a width adjuster configured to adjust a guide width depending on the medium. The width adjuster includes a first adjuster having a first holding section and a first guiding section, and the second adjuster having a second holding section and a second guiding section. The first holding section holds a part of the first edge guide, the first guiding section guides the edge of the medium between the first edge guide and the second guiding section, the second holding section holds a part of the second edge guide, and the second guiding section guides the edge of the medium between the second edge guide and the first guiding section.
MAIL PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH INCREASED FIRST AND SECOND PASS SORTING SPEED
A mail processing system utilizes a conveyor to shingle or de-shingle mailpieces as they move through the processing system and utilizes belts to move the mailpieces. A first shingling conveyor moves a first mailpiece to overlap with a second mailpiece to create shingled mailpieces. A second shingling conveyor moves a first mailpiece away from a second mailpiece to de-shingle them to create singulated mailpieces. A camera takes images of the mailpieces in the conveyor and image analysis software is used to determine dimensional aspects of the mailpieces that are used to control the belt speeds to move mailpieces with respect to each other. A mail processing system may include a mail processing station that scans addresses, applies postage and/or weighs the mailpieces. Mail may be de-shingled prior to being weighed and then re-shingled for subsequent processing, or mail may be shingled prior to passing through a scale if weighing is not necessary.

CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING THE CONVEYING DEVICE
A conveying device includes a first pair of nipping rollers, a second pair of nipping rollers, a position corrector configured to correct a position of a recording medium in a width direction of the recording medium, an end position detector configured to detect an end position of the recording medium in the width direction, and circuitry configured to, in adjustment of the end position detector, stop conveying the recording medium in response to arrival of a leading end of the recording medium at the end position detector, cause the position corrector to move the recording medium toward an outside of the conveyance passage in the width direction to a position at which the end position detector is covered by the recording medium, adjust the output of the end position detector, and cause the end position detector to detect the recording medium.
Medium conveying apparatus including side guides which can be positioned outside medium tray
A medium conveying apparatus includes a medium tray, a pair of side guides to regulate a width direction of a medium, and a housing on which the medium tray is located and including a conveyance path capable of conveying the medium placed on the medium tray. The pair of side guides are located on the medium tray so that outer ends of the pair of side guides can be positioned from an inside of the medium tray to an outside of a maximum width of the medium tray. The conveyance path can convey a medium having a width of an inside of the pair of side guides even when the outer ends of the pair of side guides are positioned outside the maximum width of the medium tray.

Sheet conveyance apparatus and image forming apparatus
A first roller pair disposed upstream of a second roller pair is separated from each other by a separating mechanism. A control portion is configured to start rotating the second roller pair after a leading edge of a sheet in a sheet conveyance direction is abutted against the second roller pair in a stopped condition. The control portion is configured to execute, based on the information concerning the sheet length acquired by the acquisition portion, either one of a plurality of modes including a first mode of rotating an upstream roller pair and the first roller pair to convey the sheet while the first roller pair is in a contact condition and a second mode of operating the separating mechanism to separate the first roller pair and of rotating the upstream roller pair to convey the sheet while the first roller pair is in a separated condition.
