A scanner includes a reading unit that reads an image of a paper, a medium feeding portion that is capable of selecting a first feeding mode in which a separation feeding for separately feeding a paper bundle in which a plurality of sheets of paper is overlapped with each other is performed and a second feeding mode in which a non-separation feeding for collectively feeding the paper bundle without separating is performed, and a pair of first transporting rollers and a pair of second transporting rollers that transport the paper fed by the medium feeding portion, in a case in which the medium feeding portion feeds the paper in the second feeding mode, a first driven roller and a second driven roller respectively constituting the pair of first transporting rollers and the pair of second transporting rollers are driven in a rotation direction where the paper is transported.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit and a conveying unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet-like medium. The conveying unit conveys the medium along a medium conveying route. The medium conveying route includes a first conveying path configured to pass through the image forming unit and a second conveying path connected to the first conveying path. When a processing condition of image forming processing satisfies a predetermined pre-processing condition, pre-processing of delivering the medium onto the second conveying path is performed before the image forming processing of forming an image on the medium by the image forming unit.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit and a conveying unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet-like medium. The conveying unit conveys the medium along a medium conveying route. The medium conveying route includes a first conveying path configured to pass through the image forming unit and a second conveying path connected to the first conveying path. When a processing condition of image forming processing satisfies a predetermined pre-processing condition, pre-processing of delivering the medium onto the second conveying path is performed before the image forming processing of forming an image on the medium by the image forming unit.

Provided is a stacker including a stacking shelf on which printed paper from a printer is received and stacked, a lifting and lowering mechanism that lifts and lowers the stacking shelf, and a stacker control unit that controls the lifting and lowering mechanism. The stacker control unit controls the lifting and lowering mechanism to lift and lower the stacking shelf to a first predetermined height corresponding to the printer at a receiving position for receiving the paper from the printer, and to lift and lower the stacking shelf to a second predetermined height corresponding to a sheet processing machine at a paper supply position for supplying paper to the sheet processing machine, the paper supply position being different from the receiving position.

A finishing unit for applying a note onto a printed document that exits from an image forming apparatus is provided. The finishing unit, according to one embodiment, includes a note cutting unit for cutting a sheet of paper to a note of a desired size and a note pasting unit for applying the note onto the printed document that exits from the image forming apparatus. An image forming apparatus and method of applying a note onto a printed are also described.

A finishing unit for applying a note onto a printed document that exits from an image forming apparatus is provided. The finishing unit, according to one embodiment, includes a note cutting unit for cutting a sheet of paper to a note of a desired size and a note pasting unit for applying the note onto the printed document that exits from the image forming apparatus. An image forming apparatus and method of applying a note onto a printed are also described.

An image forming apparatus includes a printing unit, first and second stacking units, first and second conveyance units, and a control unit. When the first conveyance unit conveys a sheet to the first stacking unit, the printing unit prints an image on a first number of sheets as first sheets in a first printing operation and prints the image on the first sheets in a second printing operation. When the second conveyance unit conveys the sheet to the second stacking unit, the printing unit prints the image on a second number of sheets, greater than the first number of sheets, as second sheets in the first printing operation and prints the image on the second sheets in the second printing operation. A number of sheets printed per unit time in the second printing operation is less than a number of sheets printed per unit time in the first printing operation.

A printing apparatus, in a case of performing double-sided printing on a plurality of sheets, performs an overlap reversing operation by controlling a first sheet to stay in a reversing path to position at least a trailing edge of the first sheet relative to a second direction in a conveying path when conveying the first sheet to the reversing path after completion of a printing operation on a first surface of the first sheet, and controls the reversing roller to convey the first sheet and a second sheet fed by a feed roller next to the first sheet, in a state in which the first sheet in the reversing path and a leading edge of the second sheet relative to the second direction overlap each other, after completion of the printing operation on a first surface of the second sheet.

An image forming apparatus having a printer for printing an image on a sheet fed from an external sheet feeding apparatus sets the sheet feeding apparatus as a sheet feed source of the sheet to be used by the printer for printing and in accordance with the setting, makes a notification so as to notice a user to set a feeding parameter in the sheet feeding apparatus.
