An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a sheet feeding portion, a first guiding member, a second guiding member, a driving portion, a detecting portion, and a controller. When a leading end of a sheet is detected by the detecting portion, in a case that information on a thickness of the sheet fed by the sheet feeding portion is a first thickness, the controller controls the driving portion so that a distance in a sheet feeding passage with respect to a thickness direction is a first distance, and in a case that the information on the thickness of the sheet fed by the sheet feeding portion is a second thickness thinner than the first thickness, the controller controls the driving portion so that the distance in the sheet feeding passage with respect to the thickness direction is a second distance shorter than the first distance.
CONVEYING DEVICE AND LIQUID DISCHARGE APPARATUS
A conveying device includes a rotating carrier, an inlet rotary body, an outlet rotary body, a downstream conveyor, and an inching controller. The rotating carrier carries a sheet. The inlet rotary body transfers the sheet to the rotary carrier from upstream of the rotary carrier in a conveyance direction of the sheet. The outlet rotary body transfers the sheet to a downstream area from the rotary carrier in the conveyance direction. The downstream conveyor conveys the sheet downstream from the outlet rotary body in the conveyance direction. The inching controller performs an inching operation to convey the sheet on a conveyance path including at least the downstream conveyor. The inching controller causes at least the outlet rotary body and the downstream conveyor to perform a conveying operation in conjunction with each other in the inching operation.

The stacker control unit controls the lifting and lowering mechanism to lift and lower the stacking shelf to a first predetermined height corresponding to the printer at a receiving position for receiving the paper from the printer, and to lift and lower the stacking shelf to a second predetermined height corresponding to a sheet processing machine at a paper supply position for supplying paper to the sheet processing machine, the paper supply position being different from the receiving position.
