A sheet feeder includes a controller configured to control an emitter to emit an ultrasonic wave toward a target sheet being fed along a sheet guide, control a measurer to measure a first reception intensity of a first component of the ultrasonic wave received by a receiver during a first period of time, control the measurer to measure a second reception intensity of a second component of the ultrasonic wave received by the receiver during a second period of time, and determine a feeding state of the target sheet in a detectable area between the emitter and the receiver within the sheet guide, based on the first reception intensity and the second reception intensity.
SHEET STACKER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet stacker includes a stacking member, transporting member, guiding member, a plurality of blowers, and controller. A sheet is stacked on the sheet stacker. The transporting member transports a sheet in a sheet-transporting direction towards the stacking member. The guiding member retains an edge portion of the sheet transported by the transporting member in a standby position, followed by moving in the sheet-transporting direction to guide transporting of the sheet. The blowers discharge air flows towards the sheet transported to the stacking member. The air flows are directed towards a top plane of the stacking member. One of the blowers is disposed in a position corresponding to the detaching position. The controller controls motions of the blowers and air volumes from the blowers based on information regarding a length of the transported sheet.

A sheet conveying device includes a pair of conveying members, a detection processing portion, a first movement processing portion, and a second movement processing portion. The detection processing portion detects a deviation amount of the sheet conveyed by the pair of conveying members in the width direction. The first movement processing portion causes the pair of conveying members that are nipping the sheet to move along the width direction based on the detected deviation amount. The second movement processing portion causes, when determined that a movement condition is satisfied in a case of moving the pair of conveying members, the pair of conveying members that have finished conveying the sheet to move to a reference position.

A medium processing apparatus includes a conveying unit, a liquid applier, and a crimper. The conveying unit conveys a medium in a conveyance direction. The liquid application member contacts and is separated from the medium while the presser presses the medium. The crimper presses and deforms a plurality of media including the medium to which the liquid is applied by the liquid applier, to crimp and bind the plurality of media.

Foil transfer device
A foil transfer device includes a foil transfer film cartridge, a housing, a display, a detector, and a controller. The foil transfer film cartridge includes a supply reel on which a foil film is wound. The housing allows the foil transfer film cartridge to be removably installed therein. The display is provided on the housing to display information. The detector detects foil film information in a state where the foil transfer film cartridge is installed in the housing. The foil film information includes at least one item selected from a group comprising a color of the foil, a width of the foil film, and a widthwise position of the foil film in a direction of the width of the foil film. The controller causes the foil film information detected by the detector to be shown on the display.
Method for transferring a sheet between two conveyors
A method for transferring a sheet in a sheet transport assembly from a supplying conveyor to a receiving conveyor. The method includes arranging a contact side of a sheet in contact with a transport belt of the supplying conveyor, advancing the sheet on the transport belt in a transport direction along a process unit, which applies a process to a process side of the sheet opposite to the contact side, and to a transfer area where the sheet is transferred to a receiving conveyor. To correct for curl deformation of the sheet, air flow is directed onto the process side of sheet, which urges the sheet towards a supporting element. The air flow is controlled in response to a curl deformation behavior of the sheet.
