A first drive source driving force drives the first driving unit. A second drive source driving force drives the second driving unit. The operating unit rotates when manually operated. In the second state, operating unit rotation is transmitted to the first driving unit to rotate the first roller, and operating unit rotation is transmitted to the second driving unit to rotate the second roller.

Examples of a paper-clearance apparatus for removing jammed paper from a printer are described herein. The paper-clearance apparatus includes an outer shaft mounted transversely above a printing medium path of a printer; an inner shaft movably disposed inside the outer shaft; a roller assembly including a sliding bush mounted over the outer shaft; and a handle connected inside the inner shaft from outside a printer housing. The handle is being rotatable so that the roller connected with the inner shaft touches the jammed paper and rotates along with the jammed paper to grip the jammed paper. Further, the handle is being pullable away from the printer housing so as to pull out the jammed paper beneath the printer housing.

The contact member is configured to contact the link member to rotate the link member in the closing movement of the cover unit.

Urged by the urging member, the guide member guides the sheet toward the conveyance unit and rotates about a first rotating shaft. The opening and closing member opens and closes. In a state in which the opening and closing member is closed, the guide member is positioned in a first position in which the guide member forms a conveyance path. In a process in which the opening and closing member is opened, a free end of the guide member moves upwardly about the first rotating shaft, by using an urging force, from the first to a second position.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

In an image forming apparatus, a sheet is guided into a first conveyor path or a second conveyor path selectively when a first cover is in a closed position, and is ejected onto the first cover when the first cover is in an open position. Upon power-up, a controller causes a first conveyor roller to rotate but if the first cover is in the open position, when a sheet sensor detects a sheet, the controller does not cause a second conveyor roller to rotate, and causes a flapper to swing from a first position to a second position, and when a front end of the sheet reaches a position downstream of an upstream end of the flapper in a conveyance direction of the sheet conveyed by the first conveyor roller, the controller causes the flapper to swing from the second position to the first position.
