Systems and methods of dispensing telecommunications cable from a network component are provided. A system includes a housing, an axle, and a spool. The housing defines an interior region and includes a cable storage portion and a mounting surface defining a receptacle. The axle is configured to removably attach to the receptacle. The spool is configured to be disposed on the axle, and has a first flange proximal to the mounting surface and a removable second flange distal to the mounting surface when the spool is disposed on the axle. The spool has a drum portion configured to support a coiled fiber optic cable and dispense the fiber optic cable as the spool rotates on the axle. Undispensed cable can be removed from the spool with the second flange removed. The cable storage portion of the housing is configured to receive the undispensed coil.

Cable spool assembly

A spool assembly includes a drum having a first axial end and an oppositely disposed second axial end. The drum includes an inner surface that defines a bore that extends through the first and second axial ends. A drum support is disposed in the bore of the drum. The drum support includes a first end and an oppositely disposed second end. The drum support has an exterior surface. The exterior surface of the drum support and the inner surface of the drum define a plurality of channels. A first flange is engaged to the first end of the drum support. A second flange is engaged to the second end of the drum support.

OPTICAL FIBER WINDING BOBBIN, OPTICAL FIBER WINDING METHOD, AND BOBBIN-WOUND OPTICAL FIBER

An optical fiber winding bobbin includes: a main winding body portion having an outer circumferential surface around which an optical fiber is wound; and a main winding flange that is disposed on one end portion of the main winding body portion in an axial direction and that protrudes radially outward. The main winding flange includes: an inner circumferential edge portion connected to the main winding body portion; a central portion; and an outer circumferential portion having a thin portion and positioned outward from the central portion in a radial direction. An axial thickness of the thin portion is smaller than an axial thickness of the inner circumferential edge.

CABLE MANAGEMENT SPOOL

Technology is provided for a cable management spool assembly. The cable management spool assembly includes a spool and one or more arcuate covers. The spool includes a flange portion having a first side configured to confront a mounting surface and a second side opposite the first side. A drum portion extends from the second side of the flange portion and one or more latches extend away from the first side of the flange portion. The latches are positioned to engage one or more corresponding mounting features of the mounting surface. The arcuate covers are coupled to the spool and are pivotable between an open position where a cable may be wound on the drum portion and a closed position where the cable is retained on the drum portion.

Provided is a screening apparatus or the like of an optical fiber that can suppress or prevent occurrence of a fiber-strike on the side of a feeding bobbin regardless of the weight of the feeding bobbin. An embodiment has a feeding bobbin 12 that feeds out an optical fiber 10; a screening unit 16 that applies a tension to the optical fiber 10 fed out from the feeding bobbin 12; a first capstan 14 that feeds the optical fiber 10 into the screening unit 16; a winding bobbin 20 that winds the optical fiber 10 to which the tension is applied by the screening unit 16; and a control unit 70 that, when disconnection of the optical fiber 10 occurs due to the tension applied by the screening unit 16, controls the feeding bobbin 12 and the first capstan 14 so as to stop rotation of the feeding bobbin 12 and rotation of the first capstan 14 and sets a deceleration rate of the first capstan 14 in accordance with a deceleration rate of the feeding bobbin 12.

Tool Device For Installing Optical Fibers At User Premises

A tool device for installing an optical fiber inside a user premises includes a neck, a coupling joined to the neck for attachment to a leading end of an adhesive syringe or an extension pole, and a head joined to a leading portion of the neck. The head has a leading edge of a certain width, and a passageway for receiving an optical fiber and guiding the fiber to a position proximate to the leading edge. The width of the leading edge is such that when the edge is held transversely across a structural corner containing an adhesive bead, and an optical fiber is received in the passageway in the head and directed ahead of the leading edge, the edge embeds the fiber in the bead when the edge is swept along the corner with the optical fiber positioned between the edge and the adhesive bead.

Connector for an optical fiber and combinations, kits, and methods of using the same

A portable device for attaching a connector to an optical fiber, the optical fiber having an end, the device comprising means for receiving the optical fiber at the end of the optical fiber; and a connector station for autonomously attaching the connector to the optical fiber.
