Feeding device for an optical fiber for measuring the temperature of a melt
A feeding device for feeding an optical fiber from a coil and for recoiling unused fiber for use in an apparatus for measuring the temperature of a melt is provided. The feeding device includes a support for a coil, a feeding mechanism for decoiling the optical fiber from the coil and recoiling the optical fiber, at least one motor for driving the feeding mechanism, and a load for the optical fiber which avoids a spring back effect of the optical fiber from the coil. Blockage is avoided when decoiling and recoiling the optical fiber from the coil.
CORELESS WOUND COIL DISPENSER WITH OPTIONAL CABLE STORAGE FOR AN OPTICAL TERMINAL NETWORK
Packaged dispensers mountable to optical network terminals (ONT) are disclosed. In some examples, the dispensers include coreless wound coils and excess storage areas. Additionally, fiber optic cable distribution systems and methods thereof utilizing the disclosed coreless wound coils are further disclosed. In one example, a length of telecommunications cable is wound into a coreless coil that includes a plurality of winding separators at least partially embedded within the coil, wherein the length of telecommunications cable alternately passes on one of the first and second sides of one winding separator and on the other of the first and second sides of an adjacent winding separator. In one example, an initially cylindrically shaped coreless wound coil, with or without winding separators, can be placed into a non-round package in which the wound coil is deformed and compressed by the sidewalls of the package such that the coreless wound coil conforms to the interior perimeter of the package to have a non-cylindrical shape.

The invention relates to a machine (100) for manufacturing an optical fibre (200), characterised in that the machine comprises: at least one capstan (20, 21) and at least one pulley (22), which define a run of the optical fibre in a main area (2) of the machine, an optical fibre guiding system comprising a transmission member (25) and a clamping element (26) that is rigidly connected to the transmission member (25) and is able to retain an end of the optical fibre (200), the transmission member (25) being arranged parallel to the run of the optical fibre, a device (5) for having the clamping element (26) automatically grip the optical fibre (200), said device comprising: means (53) for placing the optical fibre in a starting position in which the optical fibre runs at a distance from the clamping element in a direction extending substantially perpendicularly to the clamping element (26), a fibre-spacing finger (51), that can move between a neutral position at a distance from the optical fibre located in the starting position and a position in which the finger (51) keeps the optical fibre at a distance from the starting position in such a way as to bring the optical fibre into an intermediate position opposite the clamping element (26), said means being designed to open the clamping element (26) when the finger (51) has brought the optical fibre (200) into the intermediate position and close the clamping element again when the finger (51) has returned to the neutral position thereof.

Fiber optic/electrical cable cartridge system
A cartridge system for a cable reel. The cartridge system includes a case configured to hold the cable reel and a pair of reel roller elements inside the case. Each of the reel roller elements has ends that are connected to opposite sides of the case. Each of reel roller elements has a roller rotatable within the case. The roller is configured to receive a flange of the cable reel such that the cable reel is rotatable within the case.
Optical fiber disconnect/reconnect apparatus
A payout spool for a cable includes a base, a spool, and a disconnect/reconnect device. The cable extends between a first and a second end. The payout spool pays out the cable when the first end of the cable is pulled away from the payout spool. The base includes a terminal for transmitting and/or receiving a signal to and/or from the cable. The spool is rotatably mounted to the base about an axis. The spool is adapted to unwrap the cable about a wrapping area of the spool when the spool is rotated about the axis. The disconnect/reconnect device may be adapted to disconnect the second end of the cable from the terminal when the payout spool pays out the cable and reconnect the same when the payout spool is not paying out the cable.

A rotary dispenser (100) for unwinding a telecommunications cable (115) from a drum (110), the rotary dispenser comprising: a rotating portion (125) for supporting the drum and for permitting rotation of the drum about an axis of rotation; a fixed portion (120) supporting the rotating portion and configured to remain static relative to the rotating portion; a locating member (135) for centring the drum about the axis of rotation; a cable guide (145), coupled to the fixed portion, for receiving the telecommunications cable from the drum when the drum is mounted on the rotary dispenser and configured to support movement of the telecommunications cable through the cable guide as the rotating portion and the drum are rotated with the rotating portion; and an urging member for urging the cable guide away from the rotating portion so as to tension the telecommunications cable in use.
