METHODS OF WRAPPING OPTICAL FIBER AROUND A FLUID CONDUIT
20220146253 · 2022-05-12 ·

A method of wrapping optical fiber around a fluid conduit. The optical fiber is wrapped at least partially around the conduit. The optical fiber is secured relative to the conduit at one or more securing locations, thereby defining a sequence of multiple optical fiber portions. Each optical fiber portion comprises a portion of the optical fiber. Each securing location delimits a given optical fiber portion from the subsequent optical fiber portion in the sequence of optical fiber portions. A direction of wrapping of each consecutive optical fiber portion in the sequence of optical fiber portions may be alternated between a clockwise direction and a counter-clockwise direction.

This winding device includes: a bobbin for winding an optical fiber, the bobbin being a striated body; a cover that covers the outer periphery of the bobbin, the cover having provided thereto a slit that is parallel to the axial direction of the bobbin, and the optical fiber being inserted through the slit; and a roller for directly guiding the optical fiber to the bobbin. In accordance with the bobbin winding barrel diameter of the optical fiber on the bobbin, the bobbin and the roller are caused to move relatively, or the position of the slit in the cover is caused to move in the circumferential direction.

OPTICAL FIBER AND ADHESIVE DISPENSER SYSTEM

A system for installing an optical fiber cable in a building hallway or living unit includes an elongated cylinder for containing an adhesive, and a continuous length of an optical fiber cable embedded in the adhesive in a configuration that avoids kinks or knots in the cable. An elongated nozzle is fixed at a first end of the cylinder for depositing the adhesive and the cable from an open tip of the nozzle, along a desired routing path in the hallway or living unit. An applicator assembly is constructed and arranged for receiving the cylinder, and for applying a dispensing force at a second end of the cylinder opposite the first end so as to urge the adhesive and the cable out of the open tip of the nozzle.

TRANSFER DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING AN ELECTRICAL OR OPTICAL CONNECTION
