The navigation system is coupled with the destination handling unit to issue a destination call based on data of the position detector and/or for providing navigation guide data based on an issued destination call.

Finally, the method includes displaying in connection with the bank of elevator cars an assignment of the grouped ones of the passengers to one of the elevator cars in the bank.

A user can use a portable electronic device to read destination information at a starting location. The portable electronic device can be, for example, a smartphone. The destination information can be read from a tag located at the starting location. The user can then present the portable electronic device to a reader, which reads the destination information from the device. In response to reading the destination information from the device, various actions can be performed to aid the user. For example, an elevator call can be placed, trip information can be provided to the user, and/or another action can be performed.

Personalized elevator dispatch

A routing plan for elevator passengers can be developed by a computer system, when there are a plurality of elevator users requesting service from a plurality of elevators. The routing plan can be based on user input that specifies a destination and a current location. Profile data for each user can also be used to develop the routing plan. The input and profile data is correlated with a shared resource in each elevator, and the routing plan is developed from the correlated data. The plan is then communicated to the users.
