The method comprising obtaining at least one continuous speed data of the elevator car at two channels; obtaining a zone speed data of the elevator car within at least one zone of an elevator shaft at two channels, generating a two-channel verified speed information by comparing the said at least one continuous speed data to the zone speed data at least at one channel; generating a control signal, if the comparison indicates a mismatch at least at one channel; and if the comparison indicates a match at each of the at least one channel in which the comparison is provided; the method further comprising comparing the verified speed information at each channel between each other; and generating the control signal, if the reciprocal comparison indicates a mismatch. The invention also relates to a safety control unit and an elevator system performing at least partly the method.

ELEVATOR SYSTEM

An elevator system includes a car that ascends and descends a hoist way, a power feeding device installed at a specific power feeding point of the hoist way, a power receiving device that receives power from the power feeding device when the car stops at the power feeding point, a battery that is charged by the received power, and an elevator control panel that controls ascent and descent of the car. When the remaining capacity of the battery is equal to or less than a predetermined capacity, the elevator control panel performs a rescue operation of a passenger in the car, and after the rescue operation, performs an automatic search operation of searching for a power feeding point where the power feeding device is installed according to the remaining capacity of the battery.

Elevator with safety chain overlay control unit with a safety PLC separately monitoring various safety switches for increasing a safety integrity level
11305965 · 2022-04-19 · ·

An elevator has a drive unit displacing an elevator car in an elevator hoistway, an elevator controller controlling operation of the drive unit, multiple safety switches switchable upon occurrence of safety relevant events, and a safety chain overlay control unit including a safety PLC. The PLC has first connectors connected to first safety switch contacts and second connectors connected to second safety switch contacts. The PLC monitors a current safety status of the elevator and identifies a safety critical status by detecting when at least one of the safety switches changes its switching state and comparing the current switching states of the first and second safety switches. The PLC interrupts a main energy supply to the drive unit in response to the safety critical status of the elevator. Comparing switching states of the safety switches connected to the first and second connectors also enables detecting faulty safety switches.
