SAFETY STAIRS
A stairway safety system and method including movement sensors and/or force sensors, a safety button, a central processing unit, a user notify device configured to generate audio or visual indications prompting the stairway user to engage the safety button, and a communication device configured to send a message requesting help. The central processing unit is configured to measure the length of time between detecting signals from the sensors and also to instruct the first user notify device to generate audio or visual indications when the measured time between detecting the signals is shorter or longer than a stairway user's actual or estimated typical travel time through the stairway. The central processing unit is configured to measure time and to instruct the communication device to send the message requesting help if a safety signal is not detected within a safety time period which indicates a request for help may be needed.
Stairlifts
A mechanically-based arrangement for locking a stairlift chair relative to a stairlift carriage in the event of a failure within the drive that is provided to maintain the chair level as the stairlift is in operation. The arrangement uses inter-engaging components that are engaged and dis-engaged in timed relationship to rotation of the levelling motor. At all times at least one set of inter-engaging components are engaged.
Stairlift
A stairlift may include a rail and a drive unit having a chair and a carrier. The carrier may be adapted to drive along the rail, and the chair may be supported by the carrier. The chair may have a folding mechanism that comprises a base body fixed to the carrier, a seat body that is foldably fixed by way of a seat joint to the base body, a leg body that is foldably fixed to the seat body by way of a leg joint, and a footrest body that is foldably fixed to the leg body by way of a footrest joint.
Power management of a battery of a stair lift system
A lift system comprises a rail (1) and a carriage assembly (2) comprising a seat (21) or platform (21) for supporting a person to be conveyed along the rail (1), drive means arranged to engage the rail (1) and controllable to drive the carriage assembly (2) along the rail (1), energy storage means arranged to power the drive means, input means operable by a user to provide an input signal indicative of a desired movement of the carriage assembly (2) along the rail (1), and control means arranged to receive the input signal and control the drive means in response to the input signal. The system includes charging means arranged to charge the energy storage means when the carriage assembly (2) is at a first charging position on the rail (1). The control means is arranged to monitor at least one voltage (VI, V2) characteristic of the energy storage means and/or at least one operational characteristic of the stair lift, and generate an alert signal in response to one or more of those characteristics, or a difference between one or more of those characteristics, fulfilling a defined criterion, criteria, condition, or conditions.

Seat for a stair lift
A seat for a stair lift, which seat is provided with a fall protection device comprising at least one elongate safety bar which is movable between an open position and a closed position, in which open position a person can freely move into and out of the seat, wherein the safety bar is movably connected to an elongate support that is stationarily connected to the seat, which support extends on a side of the seat, wherein the fall protection device is designed so that in the open position the safety bar takes up a rearward position, in which it extends substantially parallel to and beside the support, and that in the closed position the safety bar takes up a forwardly moved (along the support), inwardly pivoted or rotated position, in which it extends from the front end of the support, in which position it can be locked, such that a person cannot fall out of the seat.

A STAIRLIFT, FOR TRANSPORTING A LOAD ALONG A STAIRCASE
A stairlift with an elongated rail includes a first side running surface and a second side running surface; and a carriage movable along the rail. The carriage having a first roller including a first roller friction surface which is in frictional engagement with the first side running surface for guiding the first roller; and a second roller including a second roller friction surface which is in frictional engagement with the second side running surface for guiding the second roller; and a first bridge. The first roller being rotatable around a first axis at a first end of the first bridge and the second roller is being rotatable around a second axis at a second end of the first bridge.
