Rope holder
A device for holding onto a rope to form a loop that can be tighten about two objects. The device including a base portion having at least one hole for securing one end of the rope. A clamping portion slidably engages a plurality of posts enabling the clamping portion to slide between a clamp position and release position for securing a portion of the rope therebetween. A clamp/release mechanism provides a means to clamp and release the clamping portion onto from the posts. The clamp/release mechanism includes a plurality of levers to selectively engage a respective post to clamp the clamping portion onto the posts when in a clamp position and disengage the at least one post to release the clamping portion from the posts when in a release position.
Load bearing apparatus and method
A load-bearing apparatus (100) comprises a winch apparatus (110), and a load-bearing spoolable medium (120) for connecting to a load, the load-bearing spoolable medium comprising a plurality of load-bearing elements (121-123); wherein at least a portion of the load-bearing spoolable medium is spooled about the winch apparatus. The provision of multiple load-bearing elements may help reduce the diameter appropriate for the winch apparatus, while maintaining the necessary load bearing capacity for supporting, paying in and/or paying out the load. The load-bearing apparatus may comprise a tension control apparatus (151-153) for controlling, applying and/or adjusting the tension of the load-bearing spoolable medium.

Rope winch
The present invention relates to a hoisting winch, in particular to a hoisting gear winch, having a hoisting drum whose winding region is bounded by two lateral flanged wheels, wherein at least one further flanged wheel is provided between the lateral flanged wheels for dividing the winding region into at least two part winding regions, wherein the cable can be guided beyond the named further flanged wheel into the at least two part winding regions. It is suggested in accordance with the invention to move the hoisting drum and/or a transverse cable guide arranged in front of the hoisting drum transversely to the longitudinal direction of the running in/running off cable approximately in the longitudinal direction of the drum and/or to adjust the angular position of the hoisting drum transversely to the longitudinal direction of the drum with respect to at least one transverse axis.

LINE TRACTION FOR A MOTORIZED LIFTING/PULLING DEVICE
An apparatus for providing reliable line traction spooling for hoists, winches, and other pulling and/or lifting devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, such an apparatus includes a motor and a drum rotated by the motor to draw in or let out a line from the drum. The drum includes a groove formed in an outer surface thereof to accommodate the line. A roller is provided to place pressure on the line against the drum. A roller consists of at least one indentation or protrusion on an outer surface to assist the drum in spooling the line onto and off of the drum. In certain embodiments, the roller is patterned in order to improve line traction. In other embodiments, a line is compressible in order to improve line traction.
