Water filter
Water filters which comprise a multitude of discrete filter media elements in a chamber require periodic cleaning. However, the elements tend to become adhered to one another and to the interior surface of the chamber. The invention provides a water filter for use with ponds, comprising a filter chamber for containing filter media, and a first movable cutting member provided substantially immediately adjacent the interior wall of the chamber for movement across the surface of the interior surface of the wall to break the adherence of filter media to the interior wall.

Backwashable media bed filtration system and drop in retrofit kit for same
This disclosure relates to filtration screens for use in a backwashable granular media bed filtration system. Drop-in retrofit kits for a backwashable granular media bed filtration system comprising one or more filtrations screens are provided herein. Such screens and kits can comprise a media support screen, a backwash filter screen, or a combination thereof. The kit can further comprise an agitator element comprising an impeller having vanes in which the impeller vane surfaces are coated with an abrasion resistant material. Associated filtration systems and processes are also described herein.
Embedded influent diffuser for floating media filter
A floating media filter including a filter housing having an influent inlet and an effluent outlet. A floating media is positioned in the housing and forms a static media bed when the filter is in a filtration stage. A diffuser trough is positioned in the filter housing such that the lower surface of the media bed, when the filter is in the filtration stage, is below the upper edge of the diffuser trough. A backwashing mechanism causes dispersion of the media bed during the backwashing stage.
APPARATUS FOR REMOVING IMPURITIES FROM WATER OR WASTEWATER AND A METHOD OF INSTALLING A FLUID DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM THEREIN
An apparatus for removing impurities from water and/or wastewater and a method of installing a fluid distribution system in the apparatus. In the most preferred form of the invention, the fluid distribution system is an air scour system for directing air through the filter bed to assist in cleaning of the filter bed to remove impurities trapped in the filter bed during a service run. In the most preferred form, the method of installing the fluid distribution system in the filter bed is performed by imparting a force to the filter bed to permit the fluid distribution system to be installed in the filter bed without removing media. The fluid distribution system is preferably configured to permit the fluid distribution system to be readily installed in the filter bed and at an optimum orientation.
Washbox
Exemplary systems and methods relating to washboxes are described.
Fluid filtration system
A fluid filtration system is disclosed herein. The filtration system includes a main tubular housing defining an interior chamber and having an outlet opening at a top end thereof and an inlet opening at a bottom thereof. A tubular inlet housing extends vertically into the interior chamber of the main housing through the inlet opening of the main housing. The tubular inlet housing has a hollow interior filled with shards of permanent magnets, a plurality of outlet portals located in the interior chamber proximate the bottom of the main housing, and an inlet opening at a bottom thereof. An inlet conduit is connected to the inlet opening of the tubular inlet housing. An adjustable fluid pump and can force the fluid from a supply of fluid to be filtered upwards through the inlet conduit at varying speeds. A permeable but compact horizontal layer of medium capable of trapping particulates is provided in the interior chamber of the main tubular housing adjacent the tubular inlet housing. The layer includes filtering particles that are attached to the magnets. Forces of magnetism produced by the shards of permanent magnets and gravity constrain the horizontal layer of filtering medium to maintain in place the layer of filtering particles. The adjustable fluid pump, an air pump connected to the inlet conduit, or electromagnets or vibrators mounted on an outer surface of the main housing can be used to disrupt the compactness of the layer of filtering particles to permit trapped particulates to be released and washed away from the layer of filtering particles.

A backwashing mechanism causes dispersion of the media bed during the backwashing stage.
FILTER STRUCTURE
A filter structure has a main body and a stirring member. The main body has a hollow containment space filled with a filtering material. A filtering mesh is disposed at a bottom side of the containment space. A first purifying opening is disposed at a top end of the main body. A second purifying opening is disposed at a lower sidewall position of the main body above the filtering mesh. A first cleaning opening and a second cleaning opening are disposed on the main body and respectively coupled to a first and second inner pipe. An outlet is disposed at a bottom of the main body. The stirring member has an upper cover corresponding to the first purifying opening of the main body. The upper cover further has a driving arm and a connecting rod, and the connecting rod has a plurality of stirring rods.
