BACKFLUSH FILTER ASSEMBLY

A filter assembly includes an inner filter basket comprising an elongated tubular portion having a first open end and a first closed end. The tubular portion defines a plurality of perforations therethrough. An outer surface of the tubular portion is seamless. A first annular brim extends outwardly from the open end of the tubular portion. The filter assembly also includes an outer filter basket having a second open end in which the inner filter basket is received. A second annular brim extends outwardly from the second open end of the outer filter basket. The first and second brims are configured to retain a fabric filter bag between the inner filter basket and the outer filter basket.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FLUID FILTRATION

A filter device provides for designs that permit variable levels of solid particle and water molecule removal. The filter device retains the particles and the water molecules in the filter medium when removed, thus avoiding the re-entry of the particles and water molecules when the power system has cooled down as is now likely in conventional filters currently in use. Further, the filter device traps the water molecules already present in the fluid being filtered (i.e., “native water”), as well as any moisture resulting from condensation that may be introduced into the lubrication system whenever it is opened.

As shown for example in FIG. (5), the strainer (13) has a body (2) that defines a plurality of inlet holes (3). Each of the inlet holes (3) is in fluid communication with a hollow internal chamber. In use, liquid is sucked through the holes (3), thereby straining out larger contaminants such as rocks and stones, into the hollow internal chamber and then out the outlet. The majority of the strainer (13), is formed from a resilient deformable material that allows opposed sides of the internal chamber to be brought into contact with each other in response to the application of a compressive force. Once the force is no longer being applied, the resilience of the material allows the body (2) to resiliently return to substantially its pre-deformation shape.
