Disclosed herein are disc filters for dewatering a fiber suspension. According to a first aspect, the disc filter includes a vessel comprising an inlet positioned in a wall of the vessel, the inlet introducing a fiber suspension into the vessel. The disc filter further includes a rotor shaft comprising a shaft axis of rotation positioned in a shaft plane, wherein the shaft plane is a horizontal plane. At least one filter element may be coupled to the rotor shaft. At least one injector may be positioned in the wall of the vessel, the at least one injector introducing a secondary flow of liquid into the vessel. The at least one injector may be located in the wall of the vessel at an injector elevation angle α.sub.I that is greater than −44 degrees and less than or equal to +22 degrees relative to the shaft plane.

BACKWASHING SUCTION DEVICE FOR FABRIC FILTRATION APPARATUS

A backwashing suction device for a fabric filtration apparatus, and more particularly, a backwashing suction device for a fabric filtration apparatus in which an edge surface of a suction slit through which pile threads exit is inclined to form a slope so that the pile threads introduced into the suction slit when a fiber disk filter is rotated for backwashing come into contact with the slope and thus the amount of angular rotation of the pile threads is increased to increase the backwashing effect. Also, since a plurality of friction protrusions are formed to protrude from the slope, the effect of removing foreign substances can be further enhanced through the effect of rubbing and washing the pile threads on a washboard while the pile threads ascend over each of the friction protrusions one by one.

SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES EMPLOYING WET/DRY SUCTION FILTER

Water or wastewater filtration systems and processes have a filter tank having a floor and sidewall defining a filtration zone, an influent conduit, and an effluent conduit. One or more filtration members in the tank having filter media, and one or more cleaning members adjacent at least some portions of the filter media. Generating an effluent stream by generating a pressure differential across submerged portions of the filtration media, causing water in the influent to flow from outside to inside the submerged portions of the filter media. A prime mover rotates the filtration members. A blower and chamber for creating a reduced pressure condition in each of the cleaning members when they are non-submerged, the chamber receiving wet solids removed from non-submerged, wet solids-laden portions of the filter media by the non-submerged cleaning members subsequent to submerged, fouled portions of the filter media being rotated out of the filtration zone.
