Fluid filter
A straight-through flow filter element is provided in which an L-shaped ring is spaced from one of the inlet and outlet flow faces. The seal member may extend therefrom in a cantilevered manner away from one of the flow faces. The spacing may be facilitated by way of spacer elements which may contact the flow face and thereby also support the flow face toward the outer perimeter.
METHODS OF PLUGGING A HONEYCOMB BODY AND MASK LAYERS THEREOF
A method of plugging a filter, comprising: positioning a mask layer over the filter comprising a plurality of intersecting walls, wherein the intersecting walls define at least one channel between the intersecting walls; perforating the mask layer proximate the channel to form a hole, wherein the hole extends around a portion of a perimeter of the channel such that the mask layer defines a flap extending over a center of the channel; passing a plugging mixture into the channel through the hole in the mask layer; and sintering the plugging mixture to form a plug within the channel.
Methods of laser machining wet cellular ceramic extrudate for honeycomb body manufacture
A method of manufacturing a honeycomb body, comprising extruding honeycomb extrudate (200) in an axial direction (A), the honeycomb extrudate (200) having an outer periphery (206); and laser machining in situ the honeycomb extrudate (200) to form a laser cut in the honeycomb extrudate. A system for in situ cutting a wet green ceramic extrudate, comprising a laser (500, 732, 826) configured to irradiate laser energy to an outer periphery of a wet green ceramic article, the laser energy adapted to cut through at least a portion of the outer periphery (206).
Porous material, cell structure, and method of producing porous material
A porous material includes aggregate particles and a binding material. In the aggregate particles, oxide films containing cristobalite are provided on surfaces of particle bodies that are silicon carbide particles or silicon nitride particles. The binding material binds the aggregate particles together in a state where pores are provided therein. The porous material contains at least one of copper, calcium, and nickel as an ancillary component.
Apparatus for coating a filter substrate
An apparatus of coating a filter substrate comprising a plurality of channels and an apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: (i) a containment means for receiving a pre-determined amount of the liquid; and (ii) a liquid dosing head arranged to dispense the pre-determined amount of the liquid into the containment means over an upper end of the filter substrate. The containment means is locatable at an upper end of the filter substrate; and the liquid dosing head comprises a plurality of apertures for dispensing the liquid onto the upper end of the filter substrate.
Honeycomb structure
A honeycomb structure including a honeycomb portion having porous partition walls extending from an inflow end face to an outflow end face, an outermost peripheral wall, and a pair of electrode layers on a side surface of the honeycomb portion. Each electrode layer extends in a direction of the cells. One electrode layer is disposed on a side opposite to the other electrode layer across a center of the honeycomb portion in a cross section orthogonal to the extending direction of the cells. The honeycomb structure portion includes first cells opened on the inflow side and plugged on the outflow side, and second cells opened on the outflow side and plugged on the inflow side. A middle of each length of the pair of electrode layers is closer to the outflow side than a middle position of a length of the honeycomb portion in the extending direction of the cells.
Joining material and silicon carbide based honeycomb structure
A joining material used for joining side surfaces of a plurality of silicon carbide-based honeycomb segments to each other to produce a silicon carbide-based honeycomb structure. The joining material contains from 0.1 to 50% by mass of processed powder generated in the production of the silicon carbide-based honeycomb segments and/or the silicon carbide-based honeycomb structure. The joining material has an average particle diameter D50 of from 0.5 to 60 μm.
MULTI- WALL THICKNESS, THIN-WALLED HONEYCOMB BODIES, AND EXTRUSION DIES AND METHODS THEREFOR
A thin-walled honeycomb body (100) having a plurality of repeating cell structures (110) formed of intersecting porous thick walls (112V, 112H) and thin walls (114V, 114H). Each repeating cell structure (110) is bounded on its periphery by the thick walls (112V, 122H) of a first transverse thickness (Tk) and the thin walls (114V, 114H) have a second transverse thickness (Tt) that subdivides each repeating cell structure (110) into between 7 and 36 individual cells (108). In the thin-walled honeycomb body (100), the first transverse thickness (Tk) of the thick walls (112V, 112H) is less than or equal to 0.127 mm (0.005 inch) and the second transverse thickness (Tt) of the thin walls (114V, 114H) is less than or equal to 0.0635 mm (0.0025 inch), and Tk>Tt. Honeycomb extrusion dies and methods of manufacturing the thin-walled honeycomb body (100) having thick walls (112V, 112H) and thin walls (114V, 114H) are provided.
