Process and materials using z-filter media, and/or, closing flutes of filter media; and, products
Approaches to providing z-filter media constructions are provided. Preferred media, filter constructions having such media, and filter systems using such filter constructions are provided. Also, preferred methods of forming filter constructions are provided.
FILTER CARTRIDGES; AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLIES; HOUSINGS; FEATURES; COMPONENTS; AND, METHODS
According to the present disclosure, features, components and techniques useable for providing air cleaner arrangements are provided. Many of the features relate to an axial seal arrangement provided on a filter cartridge. A typical filter cartridge, for use with these features, is a filter cartridge having opposite flow ends. Example media arrangements that fit this characterization are described. Seal arrangements provided with an axial housing sealing engagement surface are shown. A seal arrangement is provided. Also, air cleaner assemblies having advantageous features therein are provided. Further, air cleaner housings are described, with selected, preferred features for engagement with filter cartridges.
Method and apparatus for forming fluted filtration media
A method form forming fluted filtration media is provided. The method includes forming fluted filtration media having a repeating pattern of flutes wherein at least one flute in the repeating pattern of flutes comprises at least one ridge in a flute period between adjacent same side peaks. The repeating pattern of flutes can comprise at least one flute having at least two ridges provided in a flute period between adjacent same side peaks. An apparatus for forming fluted filtration media is provided.
Air filter arrangement; assembly; and, methods
An air filter arrangement is disclosed. The air filter arrangement includes media comprising corrugated media secured to facing media and defining a media pack having opposite flow faces. Media pack arrangements including such media are described. Also described are filter cartridges including such media packs and air cleaners including the filter cartridges. Advantageous housing seal arrangements having a pinch seal member and forming a trough are described. Methods of assembly and use are also provided. Also, systems of use are described.
Filter cartridges; air cleaner assemblies; housings; features; components; and methods
According to the present disclosure, air cleaner assemblies, components, features, and methods relating thereto, are described. These features, in part, relate to configuration of a preferred seal arrangement and seal surface of the cartridge. Particular arrangements are shown, in which: the filter cartridge includes a seal arrangement having a axial pinch seal surface with a projection/recess contour including at least one projection thereon; and, the cartridge includes a seal contour projection stabilizing portion at a location in perimeter alignment with the portion of the seal pinch arrangement including the first housing engagement projection. Additional features are included that relate to clean air separator section tubes of a precleaner arrangement secured to a cartridge. These features can be used in cartridges including features outlined above, or in alternative cartridges. Additional features of air cleaner arrangements and filter cartridges in accord with the above are described.
Air cleaner, components thereof, and methods
A filter cartridge includes a media pack having first and second opposite flow faces; the media pack comprising flutes extending in a direction between the inlet flow face and the outlet flow face; a frame mounted on the second flow face of the media pack; a seal support section extending from the base member; and first and second opposite and spaced blades extending from the base member and in a different direction from the base member as the seal support section. The first and second blades are embedded within the media pack through the second flow face. A seal member is oriented against the seal support section. The filter cartridge can be removably oriented in a cassette. The cassette and filter cartridge are removably oriented in an air cleaner housing. The cassette may include lugs to help position the cartridge in sealing engagement with the air cleaner housing. In another embodiment, the filter cartridge is cassette-free and includes a cartridge-handle projecting therefrom.
Filter assembly
The technology disclosed herein generally relates to fluted filter assemblies, where flutes formed in the filter media extend from a first flow face of the filter assembly to a second flow face of the filter assembly, where one flow face is an inlet and one flow face is the outlet. Some embodiments relate to first flute distance between the first flow face and the second flow face differing from a second flute distance between the first flow face and the second flow face by greater than 2 mm. In some embodiments at least one of the first flow face and the second flow face is non-planar, while in other embodiments at both of the first flow face and the second flow face are planar and non-parallel. Other embodiments are described.
AIR CLEANER BYPASS ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF OPERATING
An air cleaner assembly includes a precleaner assembly. In one aspect, the precleaner assembly incudes a bypass arrangement that is operated to bypass a portion of air around the precleaner assembly. The bypass arrangement can be operated by a controller based on at least one input signal corresponding to one or more of a vehicle speed, a vehicle engine speed, a vehicle engine load, an operator input, a vehicle location, an air pressure drop across a filter element, an air pressure drop across the precleaner assembly, an acoustic level, a vibration level, a change or cleaning frequency of the filter element, a total number of filter element changes, an identity of the filter element, an identity of the engine, an identity of the vehicle, an air flow rate through the precleaner assembly or through the filter element, and a weather condition parameter identified through data received locally or from a weather service.
Assemblies; components and filter features thereof; and, methods of use and assembly
Air cleaner assemblies, components therefor, and features thereof are described. Also described are methods of assembly and use. In depicted examples, the air cleaner assemblies and components optionally use advantageous housing seal features. Methods of assembly and use are described.
